Photo Collection is a Web-based picture organizer. Pictures are indexed in a relational database (currently MySQL), and can be organized in hierachical categories. Each picture has a thumbnail and can have a name. It is written in PHP on the Web side, and there is a Perl client for database administration.
PicBook automatically produces a photo album in HTML format of your scanned images or photographs. It come with automatic image processing, slideshow, transition effects, and other nifty features. It is easy to customise with its configuration file and HTML-templates. PicBook is a Bourne shell script and therefore should run on any Unix or Linux system. It requires the standard grep and awk commands, which should be available on most systems. Additionally, it needs the "convert" and "identify" commands from the ImageMagick package to handle images.
Historical Event Markup and Linking Project (Heml) provides an XML schema for historical events and a Java Web app which transforms conforming documents into hyperlinked timelines, maps and tables. It aims to provide a most information-rich interchange format for historical data, and thus add a historical component to the growing movement for a 'Semantic Web.'
Gimp Gallery is a program to create static HTML Web galleries from a directory of images. It is a gimp plugin that offers both batch and interactive modes. In the interactive mode, it will display each picture, allowing you to rotate/crop/filter/caption/etc. images before including them in the gallery, leaving your originals untouched. Templating is done via a custom Perl function, allowing you full control over the produced HTML.
AutoScrapbook helps automate the creation and maintenance of an online photo gallery. It creates the thumbnails and Web pages for you by asking you for descriptions of the pictures. It works best when run under Linux and within X (for picture viewing), but you could use it through only a terminal and a separate browser if necessary. It can optionally allow you to delete, rename, and rotate images during the description process. It can also use the programs exif, exiftags, and/or jhead to access EXIF data from the images and/or store descriptions within the JPEG header. Note that this program creates a static Web site around existing images, using the existing directory structure as the heirarchy for the Web site.
LinPHA is an easy-to-use, multilingual, flexible photo/image archive/album/gallery written in PHP. It uses an SQL database (MySQL/PostgreSQL/SQLite) to store information about your pictures. It comes with an HTML-based installer, so you don't need experience in setting up SQL databases. Thumbnails are created as needed and stored in the SQL DB. It features complete user management, top ten statistics, hidden albums, different themes, slideshow, filemanager, uploader, watermarks, benchmark, printing, and more.
