mgadvd is a Matrox G200/Zoran 36700 hardware MPEG decoder driver for Linux. It allows you to play MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and DVD streams through the Zoran 36700 Vaddis III decoder (connected to the G200) with very low CPU usage. Supported DVD audio formats are AC3 (Dolby Digital) and PCM. Included is a player app called mzplay that plays DVD directly from the disc as well as MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video and audio (Layer II only) files.
The NET-SNMP (formerly UCD-SNMP) package contains various tools relating to the Simple Network Management Protocol including an extensible agent, an SNMP library, tools to request or set information from SNMP agents, tools to generate and handle SNMP traps, a version of the unix 'netstat' command using SNMP and a Tk/perl mib browser. It was originally based on the Carnegie Mellon University SNMP implementation (version 220.127.116.11), but has been greatly enhanced, ported and fixed and barely resembles the original package anymore.
OpenNMS is the first enterprise-grade network management platform developed using the open source model. The three main functional areas of OpenNMS are service polling, which monitors services on the network and reports on their "service level"; data collection from the remote systems via SNMP in order to measure the performance of the network; and a system for event management and notifications.
parapin makes it easy to write C code under Linux that controls individual pins on a PC parallel port. This kind of control is very useful for electronics projects that use the PC's parallel port as a generic digital I/O interface. Parapin goes to great lengths to insulate the programmer from the somewhat complex parallel port programming interface provided by the PC hardware, and comes as a user-space C library, or linked as part of a Linux kernel module.
The PCI Utilities package contains various utilities dealing with the PCI bus, and also a library for portable access to PCI configuration registers. It includes `lspci' for listing all PCI devices (very useful for debugging of both kernel and device drivers) and `setpci' for manual configuration of PCI devices.
Card Services for Linux is a complete PCMCIA or PC Card support package. It includes a set of loadable kernel modules that implement a version of the Card Services applications program interface, a set of client drivers for specific cards, and a card manager daemon that can respond to card insertion and removal events, loading and unloading drivers on demand. It supports hot swapping of most card types, so cards can be safely inserted and ejected at any time.
phpSysInfo is a customizable PHP script that parses various files in /proc and displays them. It will display information about system facts like Uptime, CPU, Memory, SCSI, IDE, PCI, Ethernet, Floppy, and Video. It now has full internationalization support along with customizable templates.
