xCHM is a cross-platform GUI frontend for CHMLIB, written with wxGTK. It is able to display the topics tree, work with displayed pages history, print the current page, work with bookmarks, change fonts and fast search through all the pages of the loaded .chm document. Being indirectly dependent on GTK+, the possibility of changing GTK+ skins makes xCHM theme-friendly.
pngquant is a batch conversion utility to quantize and dither truecolor PNG images, especially those with a full alpha channel, down to "RGBA-palette" PNGs (i.e., PLTE + tRNS in PNG parlance). Such images are usually two to four times smaller than the full 32-bit versions, and partial transparency is preserved quite nicely. This makes pngquant especially useful both for Web sites and for PlayStation 2 development, where one of the texture formats is RGBA-palette-based (though not PNG-compressed).
ExactImage is a fast C++ image processing library. Unlike ImageMagick, it allows operation in several color spaces and bit depths natively, resulting in much lower memory and computational requirements. Some optimized algorithms operate in 1/20 of the time ImageMagick requires, and displaying large images can be as fast as 1/10 of the time the "display" program takes.
The Ecere SDK is a cross-platform toolkit for building software applications. It currently runs on Windows, Linux, Mac OS X (through X11), FreeBSD, and the Android OS. It should run on other Unix platforms with minor testing/tweaking. Jitac is a Java application that converts images into ASCII art by associating blocks of the image with ASCII characters. It supports several image formats (GIF, JPEG, TIFF, and PNG) and some image manipulations that can be performed before the conversion (inversion, grayscale, resize, and gamma correction).
Little CMS intends to be a small-footprint color management engine, with special focus on accuracy and performance. It uses the International Color Consortium standard (ICC), which is the modern standard when regarding to color management. The ICC specification is widely used and is referred to in many International and other de-facto standards.
