ImgView is a simple image viewer for Unix-like systems. It is free from menus and other GUI gadgets, and controlled primarily by the keyboard. It supports the following image file formats: XBM, PBM/PGM/PPM, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and PCX. It supports RGB and CMYK ICC profiles in JPEG, and RGB ICC profiles in TIFF and PNG.
Lynkeos processes astronomical webcam images. By stacking the best images, the signal to noise ratio is increased, and details lost in the noise of individual images become visible in the resulting image. This software accepts, as input, QuickTime, AVI, and MPEG sequences, or still images, in any image format supported by its active plugins (TIFF, FITS) and Cocoa. It generates a 16-bit RGB TIFF or a monochrome FITS image as output, to be further processed with some all-purpose image processing application.
ExactScan is a versatile document capture application for home offices and workgroups. It is designed from the ground up for high-speed document scanners and can easily handle hundreds of images per minute, including duplex scans. Included functionality reaches from managing, sorting, and editing singles pages to writing multi- as well as single-page PDF files including JPEG compression and TIFF, JPEG, JPEG2000, and PNG bitmap files. ExactScan allows performing state of the art image processing including automatic cropping, deskewing, dynamic thresholding for perfect black and white documents, and descreening print rasters.
GIMP SCRIPT-FUs is a collection of SCRIPT-FUs that have been modified to work with the most recent versions of GIMP. The compiler of this collection is usually not the original author for most of the scripts, but was able to tweak or get them working better in the latest GIMP releases and consolidate them in a sane menu hierarchy.
gipfel is a tool to find the names of mountains or points of interest on a picture. It uses a database containing names and GPS data. With the given viewpoint (the point from which the picture was taken) and two known mountains on the picture, it can compute all parameters needed to compute the positions of other mountains on the picture. gipfel can also generate (stitch) panorama images.
flpsed is a WYSIWYG PostScript annotator. You can't actually edit existing documents, but you can add arbitrary text lines to existing documents. Added lines can later be re-edited with flpsed. Using pdftops, flpsed can import PDF documents and also add text to them. It is useful for filling in forms, adding notes, etc. In batch mode, it can be used to automate form filling.
flimsel is a minimalistic digitial image browser based on the fltk toolkit. It displays thumbnails of images given on the command line. It is intended to be used in digital image processing shell scripts. flimsel uses the very fast epeg library for JPEG thumbnail generation. flimsel outputs keyboard hotkeys and file names of selected images to stdout. Images whose filenames are written to stdin will be reloaded. The flimsel.sh script in the examples directory uses this to implement basic image manipulations on selected images.
