Tonality is a GUI-driven utility that streamlines the typical B&W image conversion process. It thumbnails images in B&W for quick preview. It allows previews based on individual color channels. It also makes adjusting individual channel contributions without changing the overall exposure easy.
TransFig is a set of tools for creating TeX documents with graphics which are portable, in the sense that they can be printed in a wide variety of environments. The fig2dev program that is part of TransFig is used by xfig when exporting drawings to the various output formats such as PostScript (and EPS), CGM, JPEG, LaTeX, PNG, and more.
Tumble converts one or more TIFF (B&W only) and JPEG files into a PDF file. It was developed primarily for use with scanned images. B&W images will be encoded with Group 4 fax (T.6) lossless compression. JPEG images are embedded as-is. Tumble supports multi-page TIFF files, and can generate PDF outline entries (bookmarks) based on the file name and/or the page number.
unpaper is a post-processing tool for scanned sheets of paper, especially for book pages that have been scanned from previously created photocopies. It can make scanned pages more readable on a screen and more acceptable for OCR. unpaper removes dark edges from the image and also tries to unskew or rotate pages to make the text horizontal.
unweave opens each of a list of image files, removes the artifacts generated by weave interlacing, and overwrites the original file (unless told otherwise). The artifacts are removed by simply removing either the odd or the even lines of the image, and interpolating them from the remaining lines.
updateThumbnails stores the thumbnails of photos in a dot directory, stores thumbnails for different applications and sizes, supports XV thumbnails, supports generation of GNOME local thumbnails as used by GQview, only generates thumbnails if the original image has changed, and removes thumbnails where the original file no longer exists.
view3dscene is a browser for VRML (1.0 and 2.0) and X3D, and a viewer for other 3D model formats (3DS, MD3, Wavefront OBJ, and Collada are handled). It supports viewing the scene in the "Examine" mode and walking in the virtual world with features such as collision detection and gravity. Rendering is done using OpenGL. Many advanced 3D graphic effects are available, like mirrors (flat and through cube environment mapping), shadows (shadow maps and shadow volumes), GLSL shaders and more. The program can also convert files from 3DS, MD3, Collada and other formats to X3D and pretty-print VRML and X3D files.
