F-Spot is a personal photo management application for the GNOME desktop. It simplifies digital photography by providing intuitive tools to help you share, touch-up, find, and organize your images. These tools include editing, color adjustments, tags, Photo CD creation, and exporting for upload.
GraphicsMagick is a robust collection of tools and libraries which support reading, writing, and manipulating an image in over 90 major formats including popular formats like DPX, DICOM, BMP, GIF, JPEG, JPEG-2000, PDF, PNG, PNM, SVG, and TIFF. A high-quality 2D renderer is included, which provides a subset of SVG capabilities. C, C++, Perl, Tcl, and Ruby are supported. Originally based on ImageMagick, GraphicsMagick focuses on performance, minimizing bugs, and providing stable APIs and ABIs. It runs on all modern variants of Unix, Windows, and Mac OS X.
Instant Picture Creator is a wrapper to produce images on demand for Web sites. It has filter management, and it's possible to add new filters. It can cache filtered images, works independently (no backend is needed), and is easy to integrate with existing Web sites. It includes two basic filters for resizing images and manipulating colour palettes. Currently it supports PNG, GIF, and JPEG.
Picasa is Google's photo organizer. It makes it easy to find, edit, and share digital photos. It automatically locates and remembers all pictures and sorts them into visual albums organized by date with recognizable folder names. You can drag and drop to arrange albums and make labels to create new groups. This Linux version mostly has the same features as the Windows version, and is based on a modified version of Wine.
SVGSlice is a simple tool which generates chopped up images from Inkscape SVG drawings. To figure out where to cut, SVGSlice can use Inkscape's built in guides (for simpler, grid-like cuts), or it can use a specially named "slices" layer that contains rectangles that mark areas to slice. Demo files showing both approaches are included.
SIP provides image processing, pattern recognition, and computer vision routines for SciLab, a Matlab-like matrix-oriented programming environment. SIP is able to read/write images in almost 90 major formats, including JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, FITS, and TIFF. It includes routines for filtering, segmentation, edge detection, morphology, curvature, fractal dimension, distance transforms, multiscale skeletons, and more.
