MaKL is a simple and light framework for building multi-platform C/C++ projects, purely based on the Bourne Shell and GNU Make. It is much easier to install and use than other typical building systems, while maintaining the essential functionality. It is ideal for embedded systems due to its cross-compilation, multiplatform toolchaining mechanisms, and minimal external dependencies.

LibU is a multiplatform C library that comes under a BSD-style license. It includes many interdependent modules for accomplishing several tasks: memory allocation, networking and URI parsing, string manipulation, debugging, and logging in a very compact way, plus many other miscellaneous tasks. It has a small footprint (about 70KB for the default configuration), it is modular, and it has a multiplatform nature, making it an ideal candidate for embedded systems. KLone is an example of such usage.

GNU xorriso creates, loads, manipulates, and writes ISO 9660 filesystem images with Rock Ridge extensions. Files can be copied in and out. The session results get written to optical media or to filesystem objects. Rather than needing external tools for ISO 9660 production and CD/DVD/BD burning, it is a static compilation of libburnia-project.org. Thus GNU xorriso depends only on fundamental operating system facilities.

SoCLib is a library of pluggable SystemC cycle-accurate and transaction-level components. The library contains many types of models: processor cores (MIPS32, PPC405, ARM-v6k, Nios2, MicroBlaze, lm32, etc.), memory types, devices (block device, UART, frame buffer, etc.) and network-on-chip models. SoCLib can be used to create a complete system-on-chip hardware design, as well as for testing and evaluating embedded operating systems and applications. NetBSD, MutekH, and other dedicated systems are ported to the SoCLib hardware simulator. A Linux port is an ongoing project.

SSD (Sawfish Session Dialog) is a small and flexible wrapper for session commands. It is intended to be used with Sawfish, but does not require it. It can be configured to use any command for logout, reboot, shutdown, suspend, hibernate, and lock actions. Preset command definitions are available for: KDE4, GNOME2, XFCE4, MATE, and Razor-Qt. It is part of Sawfish-Extras (currently there's only SSD, but more is planned).

sl takes the most common use of Unix ls, to display the files in a directory compactly in multiple columns, and makes it substantially more useful. sl groups files by purpose so you can mentally organize many files quickly; for instance, it collects .html files together, as opposed to leaving them mixed up with supporting images, CSS, and JavaScript. sl points out interesting files, which include those that have been recently modified, read relatively recently, are relatively large, have warnings, or need to be checked in to or out of version control. sl is also aesthetically pleasing due to attention to layout and filtering as well as limiting color and text annotations to salient information.
