Babelj is a language server for Java. It allows programs written in practically any language to fully interact with Java. Client libraries currently exist for PHP3 and Java. Babelj can be used as an out of the box bridge between PHP and Java and adding support for new languages is a snap as well.
BeeCrypt is an ongoing project to provide strong and fast cryptography in the form of a toolkit usable by commercial and open source projects. Included in the library are entropy sources, random generators, block ciphers, hash functions, message authentication codes, multiprecision integer routines, and public key primitives.
BioJava aims to provide a comprehensive set of Java components for the rapid development of applications in Bioinformatics. It contains interfaces for representing Sequences, Features, and other important bioinformatics concepts. It can also read and write sequence data in a variety of common formats and communicate with Ensembl databases and with DAS and BioCorba servers.
dnsjava is an implementation of the DNS protocol in Java. It supports all of the common record types. dnsjava provides both high and low level access to the resolver. The high level functions perform queries for records of a given name, type, and class, and return an array of records. A cache is used to reduce the number of queries sent. The low level functions allow direct manipulation of dns messages and records, as well as allowing additional resolver properties to be set. A 'dig' clone, dynamic update program, and basic server are also included. Extensions to the DNS protocol are supported as well (DNSSEC, TSIG, EDNS0).
eXist is a native XML database featuring efficient, index-based XPath query processing, extensions for keyword search, XUpdate support, and tight integration with existing XML development tools. The database is lightweight and may be easily deployed in a number of ways, running either as a stand-alone server process, inside a servlet engine, or directly embedded into an application.
Gnome-GCJ is a set of GTK+ and GNOME bindings for Java. It compiles with the GCJ compiler (part of egcs) and uses the GCJ runtime library libgcj. GCJ is capable of compiling Java source code to native machine code, which makes Java code almost as fast as C++ code. As the interface between Java and GTK+, CNI (Cygnus Native Interface) and C++ will be used instead of the more traditional JNI and C. This means that support for other Java runtimes has been sacrificed in favour of GCJ and its faster CNI.
gnu.hylafax implements the HylaFAX client network protocol in pure Java. With it, Java applications can access a HylaFAX server in various ways, such as queueing FAX jobs, checking server/job status, and retrieving FAX files. The gnu.hylafax distribution also includes gnu.inet.ftp, a pure Java implementation of FTP client protocol (RFC0959).
