Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd. Among others, it offers support for on-demand disk buffering, reliable syslog over TCP, SSL, TLS, and RELP, writing to databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and many more), email alerting, fully configurable output formats (including high-precision timestamps), the ability to filter on any part of the syslog message, on-the-wire message compression, and the ability to convert text files to syslog. It is a drop-in replacement for stock syslogd and able to work with the same configuration file syntax.
RWMA (Ruby window manager addons) is a modular wrapper around dmenu and dzen for adding various keyboard driven actions to (usually minimalistic) window managers, inspired by ruby-wmii. Its main purpose is launching programs and displaying notifications, but it can be expanded with plugins (for example translation, music player control, and volume control).
safe-rm is intended to prevent the accidental deletion of important files by replacing /bin/rm with a wrapper that checks the given arguments against a configurable blacklist of files and directories that should never be removed. Users who attempt to delete one of these protected files or directories will not be able to do so and will be shown a warning message instead. Protected paths can be set both at the site and user levels.
scheme-asteroid is a real-time asteroid-like game. It has a neat object-oriented architecture, includes a real-time physics engine, and utilizes a triple-buffering display system. All graphics and artwork (e.g. background images) are generated on-the-fly using fractals and recursive procedures.
Simple Continuous Integration Tools (scit) is an automated build and or test system consisting of a set of Perl and expect scripts utilizing common tools that are available for most Unix-like operating systems. The intention is to keep it lightweight while still providing a full set of features. The current version has a command-line and an HTML user interface. It should be possible to make it run on very modest hardware; part of the development and testing has been done on a Nokia N900 phone with both master and slave roles running on the same unit.
