slkbuild is a script inspired by makepkg from Arch that greatly simplifies the package building process in Slackware and derivatives. It parses an easy-to-create SLKBUILD meta-file and from that creates a conventional build script that follows all of the Slackware packaging standards and that can be run on its own. The advantage of using slkbuild is that it ensures package uniformity and allows for an easy-to-edit meta-file in the event that one might require customization or might need to update the script for new releases. It also makes the build process much quicker, since it takes care of downloading the source, untarring, gzipping man and info pages, stripping binaries, making sure that the menu entry for a graphical application is compliant, as well as a host of other things.
slkvm is an application to provide some system tools to work with clustering and virtualization. It focuses on depending on as few external tools as possible but to also support as many virtualization technologies as possible. It works in a cluster environment where heartbeat runs virtual machines of nodes that have failed. It builds an "unheaded" cluster to avoid having a clear point of failure. It is able to build a two node cluster with everything redundant. It avoids compiling a new kernel or newer version of applications, so you can benefit from Debian security updates.
snmp2xml is a program to convert snmpget output to XML. The output from snmpget, snmpwalk, or snmpbulkwalk is first filtered to correct for SNMP agent flaws and then processed into XML. This XML can be passed through xmllint to tidy it up or it can be processed by an XQuery or XSLT processor. The XML output represents all the SNMP data such that the original SNMP output can be reproduced if desired with an XSLT stylesheet (which is included). The snmp2xml converter has been tested on 7 SNMP agents: Mac OS X, Apple Time Capsule, the Billion ADSL router, the Huawei S9306 switch, the Foundry/Brocade CES and MLX-4 switches, and the Nortel 425 switch.
