Benojt is a fast and flexible explorer for various types of fractals. It can render escape-time fractals like Mandelbrot/Julia style fractals, Newton fractals, Lyapunov fractals, and two dimensional attractors/strange attractors. Due to its modular design, single components like iterators, renderers, and colorings can be replaced, making it easy to experiment with individual aspects of fractal creation. New iterators can be created at runtime by typing a fractal fomula which is compiled and loaded automatically.
GNU parallel is a shell tool for executing jobs in parallel locally or using remote computers. A job is typically a single command or a small script that has to be run for each of the lines in the input. The typical input is a list of files, a list of hosts, a list of users, a list of URLs, or a list of tables. If you use xargs today you will find GNU parallel very easy to use, as GNU parallel is written to have the same options as xargs. If you write loops in shell, you will find GNU parallel may be able to replace most of the loops and make them run faster by running several jobs in parallel. GNU parallel makes sure output from the commands is the same output as you would get had you run the commands sequentially. This makes it possible to use output from GNU parallel as input for other programs.
pin 'em up is a tool for placing small notes/post-its (e.g. TODOs/reminders) on your desktop and organizing them in various ways (categorize, hide, upload, export, etc.). Due to platform independence, the notes can also be shared on different operating systems. It features system tray integration, freely placeable notes, many possibilities to customize the note design, (nearly) unlimited user-defined categories, fast switching between categories (e.g. "home" and "office"), automatically saving notes to a file, an open file format (XML), server upload/download functions (FTP and WebDAV), and exporting notes to a text file.
ParaDB is a Web-based application designed for use by ghost hunting and paranormal research organizations. The software consists of a Web-based interface for case management, client relations, and investigation reporting. As the name implies, all data is stored in a back-end database, allowing one to easily access, search for, and correlate data.
Urd is a Web-based Usenet binary download manager. It stores the newsgroup information in a MySQL database and aggregates the articles into sets of a single download (e.g. one album or movie). The Web interface can be used to search with regular expressions. It uses its own downloading daemon that has support for scheduling downloads and updating databases. URD can also download directly from NZB files and even create NZB files. Further features include custom scripts, multiple languages, a template based Web interface, support for multiple servers, automatic par2 and unrar support, and an intuitive user interface.
