FYM is a media organizer that performs quick scans for media files (more than one hundred thousand media files in less than a minute). With its search engine, you easily find and open music, photos, videos, books, and other data types you determine. Covers of music folders and photo albums can be shown. It has strong random functionality.
Muxic is a minimal user interface to XMMS2. It is inspired by Winamp Classic's windowshade. It is only meant for controlling and monitoring playback, not for managing a media library or even a playlist. To actually play music, it relies on the XMMS2 (the X-platform Music Multiplexing System 2) daemon, and another XMMS2 client must be used to put some music in your playlist. Muxic's keybindings are based on a subset of Winamp Classic's keyboard shortcuts. Muxic announces track changes using Growl.
Cuberok is a music player and collection manager with a lightweight interface. It supports music collections, CUE sheets, Shoutcast/icecast streams, a Last.FM and Libre.FM scrobbler, downloading images for albums and artists from Last.FM, information about artists from Last.FM, and lyrics from LyricWiki.org, automatic ratings for songs, and support for many playlists at one time.
Khövsgöl is a minimal, highly configurable music player and browser. It can easily handle very large collections of music. It's designed for the GNOME desktop, but can run well in other environments. It works fine as a standalone player, but can also be used to remotely control music daemons such as MPD.
mmq plays arbitrary audio files gaplessly and continuously without needing a predefined queue. mmq is an exercise in minimalism, so it is more about avoiding needless features than anything else. mmq may be used standalone or managed by a larger application. mmq is only configurable at build time. Currently, FLAC decoding and SALSA-lib audio output support are implemented.
Clementine is a modern music player and library organizer. It is inspired by Amarok 1.4, focusing on a fast and easy-to-use interface for searching and playing your music. You can search and play your local music library, and listen to Internet radio from Last.fm, SomaFM, and Magnatune. It has tabbed playlists, the ability to import and export M3U, XSPF, PLS, and ASX, visualizations from projectM, the ability to transcode music into MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Ogg Speex, FLAC, or AAC, the ability to edit tags on MP3 and Ogg files, organize your music, and download missing album cover art from Last.fm. It has native desktop notifications on Linux (libnotify) and Mac OS X (Growl), as well as remote control using a Wii Remote, MPRIS, or the command line. It can copy music to your iPod, iPhone, MTP, or mass-storage USB player. It has a queue manager.
