fish, the friendly interactive shell is a shell that is focused on interactive use, discoverability, and user friendliness. The design goal of fish is to give the user a rich set of powerful features in a way that is easy to discover, remember, and use. fish features a user-friendly and powerful tab-completion, including descriptions of every completion, tab-completion of strings with wildcards, and many completions for specific commands. It also features an extensive and discoverable help system. A special help command gives access to all the fish documentation in your preferred Web browser. Other features include syntax highlighting with extensive error checking, support for the X clipboard, smart terminal handling based on terminfo, an easy to search, no duplicates history.

Minerva is a complete, easy to use home automation suite. It allows you to switch your on lights from anywhere using a mobile phone or PC, email your video, check CCTV footage, control your central heating, and much more. It relies on command line and can therefore be run from virtually any platform (smart phone, PDA, laptop, or remote PC) with identical functionality. The architecture consists of three parts: input, output, and process. Each is completely distinct, meaning you can control any of the house processes from any supported input conduit such as a Web browser, remote control, or SMS. Reports or notifications can be sent to any of the available output conduits.

John the Ripper is a fast password cracker, currently available for many flavors of Unix, Windows, DOS, BeOS, and OpenVMS. Its primary purpose is to detect weak Unix passwords. It supports several crypt(3) password hash types commonly found on Unix systems, as well as Windows LM hashes. On top of this, lots of other hashes and ciphers are added in the community-enhanced version (-jumbo), and some are added in John the Ripper Pro.

It features a flexible design, total station control, digital camera control, real-time control and visualization, processing of point clouds (from laser scanners or other sources), geometry manipulations, projection of photographs on meshes, photogrammetry, in-situ measurements, and format translations for points, lines, and triangle meshes to formats that include dxf, stl, wrl, and pov. The tools were mostly used for the documentation of cultural heritage sites and buildings.

hphwraid is a simple and efficient Hobbit / XYmon extension to monitor hardware raid on HP ProLiant servers such as the ProLiant DL, ML, or BL. It it written in bash, has been tested on Linux, and can be set up in less than 3 minutes. It auto-detects the number of RAID controllers on the machine and the number of plugged in hard drives. The hobbit RAID icon switches to red if the disk(s) is(are) down and/or the RAID is rebuilding.
