Cactus is a general, modular, parallel environment for solving systems of partial differential equations. The code has been developed over many years by a large international collaboration of numerical relativity and computational science research groups and can be used to provide a portable platform for solving any system of partial differential equations.
Ecasound is a software package designed for multitrack audio processing. It can be used for simple tasks like audio playback, recording, and format conversions, as well as for multitrack effect processing, mixing, recording and signal recycling. It supports a wide range of audio inputs, outputs, and effect algorithms. Effects and audio objects can be combined in various ways, and their parameters can be controlled by operator objects like oscillators and MIDI-CCs. A versatile console-mode user interface is included in the package.
GNU TeXmacs is a free wysiwyw (what you see is what you want) editing platform with special features for scientists. The software aims to provide a unified and user friendly framework for editing structured documents with different types of content: text, mathematics, graphics, interactive content. TeXmacs can also be used as an interface to many external systems for computer algebra, numerical analysis, and statistics. New presentation styles can be written by the user and new features can be added to the editor using Scheme.
GRASS (the Geographic Resources Analysis Support System) is a software raster- and vector-based GIS (Geographic Information System), image processing system, graphics production system, and spatial modeling system. It contains many modules for raster data manipulation, vector data manipulation, rendering images on the monitor or paper, multispectral image geocoding and processing, point data management and general data management. It also has tools for interfacing with digitizers, scanners, and the PostgreSQL, DBF, and ODBC connected databases. GRASS operates on all common operating systems.
The SMS Server Tools send and receive short messages through GSM modems or mobile phones. Messages are stored as text files in spool directories. External programs or scripts of any language can be used to filter, inspect, and answer messages automatically. Events and alarms can be passed to scripts for integration in monitoring tools. The program generates performance statistics as well. This daemon supports 7, 8, and 16 bit character sets as well as binary data (ringtones, logos, wap-push), user data header, flash, and delivery reports.
SWISH++ is a Unix-based file indexing and searching engine (typically used to index and search files on web sites). It was based on SWISH-E although SWISH++ is a complete rewrite. SWISH++ is at least 10 times faster and can handle much larger numbers of files. Additionally, it has unique features such as selective non-indexing, on-the-fly filters, user-selectable stemming, and more.
FreeRADIUS is a high-performance, highly configurable, and feature-rich RADIUS server. Supported features include EAP (wireless authentication, PEAP, TTLS), MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, LDAP, X9.9 token cards, VMPS, and many more. It comes with more than 50 vendor dictionaries, and interoperates with many others. It is the only open source RADIUS server that has implemented EAP, and it is currently deployed in multiple million-user systems.
