The X3D library is used to load an X3D file and render it using OpenGL (an X3D file is an XML file describing a 3D environment that can be rendered with OpenGL.) The library supports all the objects as defined in the X3D specification in 2006. The render library is still somewhat limited, though. It works well under Linux. It is likely to work on any Unix, and has worked under MS Windows before. The project includes a test that makes use of FLTK version 2.0-m3. That version of FLTK can be downloaded from the project repository, as FLTK itself actually ended up not publishing a concrete 2.0 version of the library.
Gutenprint (formerly Gimp-Print) is a collection of printer drivers for Unix/Linux that currently supports over 1400 printers. It emphasizes quality and flexibility, offering a wide variety of options to meet most printing needs. It includes a CUPS driver, an IJS-based Ghostscript driver, Foomatic data, an enhanced Print plugin for The GIMP, and other printer maintenance utilities. It can be used equally well for fast printing of text or critical printing of high quality graphics and photographs.
glucopy-glurestore is a set of scripts for copying and restoring a fully functional GNU/Linux (or other Unix-like) system. The glucopy script will back up all system content (system and user files), while the glurestore script will partition and format an identical system, restore the system and user files, and make the system bootable. The scripts are included in the HTML documentation.
The Infrared-HOWTO (formerly known as the IR-HOWTO) is an introduction to Linux and infrared devices and how to use the software provided by the Linux/IrDA project. This package uses IrDA(TM) compliant standards. Remote Control (RC) via infrared is not the aim of the project, though this topic is partly treated in the HOWTO.
ArtistX is a live DVD which turns a computer into a full multimedia production studio. It is based on Debian GNU/Linux and contains nearly all the available free audio, 2D and 3D graphics, and video software for the GNU/Linux computing platform. It doesn't need to be installed, and boots directly into a running system without touching hard drives. The files produced with ArtistX can be easily stored on a USB card or CD/DVD medium while it is running.
The NetCDF package consists of a few tools to operate on NetCDF and, by utilizing the compatibility API, HDF4 files. The tools are intended to be used from shell scripts. They include a couple of simple shell wrappers over the respective NetCDF functions (ncattget and ncattput) and a more sophisticated ncget tool. The ncget tool delivers (for NetCDF) or complements (for HDF4) the functionality of the "hdp dumpsds" command. It allows a selected part of a NetCDF variable or an HDF4 scientific data set (SDS) to be extracted in either an ASCII or binary form, applying the transformation specified by the scale_factor and add_offset attributes. This tool allows one to feed the data of NetCDF variables (or HDF4 SDS) to other tools designed to operate on either ASCII (text) or raw (binary) data.
FDRDF is a tool that builds a catalogue of descriptions in an RDF representation of the specified files. The descriptions currently include: file status (as per the stat system call); SHA-1 hash over the file contents; MIME type (as guessed by the file tool), geospatial metadata (as per GDAL), and GRIB file composition (as per GRIB API).
