McIDAS-Lite is a freely available demo for the full McIDAS software. It will connect to a variety of free online data sources for satellite data and display the images in a viewing window. Images can be looped and analyzed, and graphics overlays can be created to show maps and other geographical features. It is available for AIX, HP-UX, Irix, Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris Sparc, Solaris x86, and Windows XP with SFU.
MapMemo allows you to drag your files onto any graphic (map, photo, scan, illustration, screenshot, etc.), and thus give them a visual, location-based relation. It uses only aliases of your files which, when you click on an appropriate location, will open in their original application. You can use layers, info windows, colors, and comment fields to organize your files on the map.
Moving Map provides a moving GPS map and 3D GPS logger for your Java enabled handheld. It can either use an internal GPS (such as in the Nokia N95 and BlackBerry 8800) or connect to an external Bluetooth GPS receiver. It supports vector maps and paths created in Google Earth and can export logs to Google Earth.
StatPlanet Map Maker is a program for creating interactive thematic maps and graphs. Data is read from an external file (.CSV) which can be easily edited. Customization options include specifying the zoom level, creation of selectable regions, changing the map colors, and adding country mouse-over text.
