Engauge Digitizer is digitizing software that converts an image showing a graph or map into numbers. The image file can come from a scanner, digital camera, or screenshot. The numbers can be read on the screen, and written or copied to a spreadsheet. Highlights for beginners include an intuitive interface and extensive context-sensitive documentation. Highlights for experts include compensation for image distortion, cartesian and polar coordinates, linear and logarithmic coordinates, automatic scanning, graphical previews, and browser help.
GraphPak is a programming library of 2D and 3D charting objects for the Qt toolkit. It provides software developers with a set of C++ objects to easily create charts or graphs that aid in the visual presentation of technical and business data. This release includes Bar, Line, Pie, Ring, Area, Hi-Lo, Box and Whisker, and Polar charts. It is based on the KD Chart product from Klarälvdalens Datakonsult AB.
The OGR Simple Features Library is a C++ library providing read/write support for a variety of Geospatial (GIS) vector file formats including Shapefiles, Mapinfo MID/MIF and TAB, PostGIS, and Oracle Spatial. It attempts to follow an OpenGIS Simple Features geometry model, and use OpenGIS coordinate system standards. C and Python bindings are provided. It is a component of the GDAL project.
GEOS is a complete C++ implementation of the functions and predicates defined in the OpenGIS "Simple Features for SQL" specification. It includes high quality implementations of all the important spatial relationships and operations, robust versions of all functions in the dimensionally extended 9 intersection predicate model, implementations of the operators, Buffer(), Union(), and Intersection(), and all other SFSQL functions including Area(), Length(), Centroid(), etc.
Mars MOLA Viewer displays a fly-over rendering of the Martian surface, as measured by the Mars Global Surveyor, in real-time 3D animation. It downloads the Mars Orbiting Laser Altimeter topographic data files and uses them to drive the rendering. The user controls the position and the angle of the camera, and can move seamlessly over the entire Martian surface from -88 to 88 degrees latitude. It is a Java Web Start program with 1-click installation from your browser (depending on platform/browser).
The GPSTk provides both fundamental and advanced GPS processing algorithms. A wide array of functions are provided by the library, notably RINEX I/O, ephemeris calculation, atmospheric refraction models, and positioning algorithms. GPSTk applications provide more concrete benefits to the user, including cycle slip detection and removal, calculation of the Total Electron Content (TEC) of the ionosphere, and RINEX file manipulation.
Earth3D visualizes the earth in realtime in a 3D view. One can rotate and zoom the view and fly around. Additional data layers can be added to the view, e.g. country flags and names. It uses data from NASA, USGS, the CIA, and the city of Osnabrück. The data is loaded on demand over the Internet.
NPGPX is a Netscape plugin that can display routes, tracks, and waypoints from a GPX file. GPX (GPS eXchange) is an interchange format for GPS data. You can publish your GPS data online, and other people can use this plugin to view the data. It supports zooming and panning. The plugin is written primarily for Firefox on GNU/Linux, but it should work with other browsers that support Netscape plugins. It may or may not work on other operating systems.
