Geo Bookmark is a simple widget that adds a bookmark with the current time and geographical position to the home screen. The interface is kept minimal to allow operation in situations that do not permit extensive interaction with the phone (e.g. while driving a car). Bookmarks are color coded. Blue icons represent exact locations, red icons mean that the widget could not get a GPS fix within 40 seconds and therefore recorded the last known location (which may or may not have been determined by means other than GPS). In order to view a bookmark, a suitable maps application needs to be installed (e.g. Google Maps or OSMAnd).
SalatReminder is a simple Atom feed generator that displays today's Salat timings based on your IP address' geographical location. Prayer timings are sourced from Islamic Finders Prayer Web service. Default options can be configured in a config.ini file. It does not work well with proxies that affect geolocation, but the title of the feed contains the current city and country.
tagAR is an augmented reality tagging application developed for the Android operating system It allows you to tag locations in real time, and see tags posted by other users. It app encourages social networking between users from all walks of life, who can tag their favorite locations and post comments about the location. Anyone near that tag can see it on their mobile device.
GRIFIN (Geospatial Reference Interface For Internet Networks) is a design for a new network service providing information via the geo-spatial-temporal context. It is different from other existing Internet services, with strong focus on interoperability, decentralized architecture, and visualization.
Mole (Mobile Organic Localization Engine) provides room-level geoposition estimates using existing WiFi infrastructure. When you create an entry in the database by naming a room, your and other users' mobile devices will recognize when they are in that room. Other applications can poll or monitor the current room estimate and act accordingly, with context aware behavior. Because too much WiFi scanning drains batteries, it uses accelerometers and other tricks to keep scanning to a minimum while keeping update latency reasonable.
