XHTML Family Tree Generator is a CGI Perl script together with some Perl modules that will create views of a family tree. Data can be stored in a database or in a data file. The data file is either a simple text (CSV), an Excel, or GEDCOM file listing the family members, parents, and other details. It is possible to show a tree of ancestors and descendants for any person, showing any number of generations. Other facilities are provided for showing email directories, birthday reminders, facehall, and more. It has a simple configuration, makes heavy use of CGI (and other CPAN modules), generates valid XHTML, and has support for Unicode and multiple languages.
Web Gedcom Viewer is a full Web-based Gedcom viewer that uses MySQL or SQLite on the backend and Perl as the frontend with templates for easy HTML manipulation. Gedcom files are in the standard format exported by family tree/genealogy applications such as Family Tree Maker or Personal Ancestory File. Plugging in different SQL types is a breeze, as all of the SQL statements are centralized to a single pm.
JGenea is an pure Java genealogy application useful to store information about the members of a family, the relationship between them, acts (birth, mariage, death, etc.), and photos. JGenea can import gedcom files from another applications and export all or part of your data to gedcom files, PDF files, patronymes/towns files, and backups.
MyNukeGenealogy is a plugin-module for PHPNuke or PostNuke to build up a family or surname Web site. It allows for displaying and editing genealogical data (individuals, families, events, notes, sources, etc.) and importing gedcom files (export functionalities will follow). It has a flexible template system to customise the layout and design.
Morcego is a 3D graph browser for viewing and navigating any graph-like structure. Examples of such structures include social networks, site maps, hierarchies, and genealogy trees. It currently only support simple graphs. It's already integrated into TikiWiki. Morcego is not meant to provide a solution for the end user, but to be embedded in a Web application by developers. It's a Java applet that communicates with an XML-RPC server to load the graph that is displayed.
