XorCurses is a game based entirely on Xor by Astral Software. The original game was released around 1987 for the 8-bit home computers popular at the time. XorCurses attempts to faithfully recreate that game for Linux, but slightly ironically, uses ASCII characters instead of pixel based graphics (which even the 8-bit computers could manage). The idea of Xor is to roam around a series of mazes collecting masks. The first level is simply a matter of finding your way around, but the second level introduces fish and chickens which block your path or kill you if they hit you. From there on in, things get progressively tougher and really is a challenging and difficult puzzle game.
Beat Back the Horde is a rhythm-time strategy game for Android 2.2 and up, focusing on fast-paced placing of units while tapping to the beat! Build up combos to spawn Über Units! It is playable in single-player mode, or in multi-player mode over Bluetooth, and can be learned in a minute and played for hours. It includes many achievements to unlock, five songs to master, adjustable difficulty single-player AI, and particle effects.
Gamify is a PHP class that can manage user experience points and achievements to implement site game logic. It can create database tables that can record the values of experience points earned by site users that accomplish certain achievements. The class can manage the records of site users participating in the site gaming activities, the user achievements, the levels, and experience that they earn. It can also obtain user statistics and top users listings.
GLoid is a 3D block game inspired by Arkanoid. It was originally written as an SDL and OpenGL exercise, but has developed into a full-featured, highly playable game with refined graphics and sound effects. It runs equally well on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X, and has minimal hardware requirements.
The Gluon project is an open framework for creating and distributing games, supporting the flow of the idea all the way from the author to the player of the finished game. The current goal for the first stable release is to create games using 2D graphics. The reasoning behind this is that the niche for this type of visual is very large and so far untapped by specialized tools. In the world of 3D games there are solutions such as Unity3D, which provide a distribution system, but in the 2D game development world there are no tools to provide a complete ecosystem for creation, distribution, and feedback gathering. The three main audiences of Gluon are game creators, game players, and application programmers. Each of these are a user of one of the tools.
JGame Flash is an ActionScript 3 port of the JGame 3.5 API. It can be compiled with the free Flex toolkit. A Java-AS3 translator is included to make porting games easier. The goal of this project is to eventually enable JGame Java games to be converted (partially) automatically to ActionScript 3. JGame Flash works on Android Flash 10.1 and supports accelerometer input.
