FVWM-Crystal aims to create an easy to use, pretty, and powerful desktop environment for Linux or other Unix-like operating systems. It uses following programs: FVWM as a window manager and "main core", ROX-Filer as file manager (manages icons on the desktop), xterm, aterm, mrxvt, or urxvt as terminal emulators, MPD or XMMS as music players, and several other tools for different functions, like setting a wallpaper or making screen shots.
CrystalAudio is a FVWM-Crystal configuration tuned for use on an audio workstation. It has many new applications for the menu, including many sound-related applications and improved sound controls. It launches qjackctl at startup. The final goal of the project is to make the FVWM-Crystal menu compatible with the freedesktop specification and to provide some tools to generate the menu entries and icons from desktop and icon files provided by the applications in the system.
wmsupermon is a universal monitoring dockapp. It can be used to monitor CPU usage, disk I/O, memory usage, swap, filesystems, space utilization, network traffic, wireless link quality, CPU frequency, CPU temperature, fan speed, voltages (without requiring lm_sensors), battery status (with actual, not "reported", discharge rate), traffic from your router, or anything else. It can open and maintain many dockapp windows with one dockapp process.
feed2wmmenu is a tool to generate X11 window manager menus from RSS, ATOM, or other news feeds. It was inspired by "fvwm-menu-headlines", which generates static refreshed FVWM menus from RSS or other kinds of news feeds. The drawback of the FVWM related script is the use of simple regular expressions. feed2wmmenu polls the feeds using curl, utilizing the Last-Modified header so that the feeds are potentially not fetched if they didn't change since the last poll. It produces diverse output formats by using corresponding XSLT stylesheets.
