neteK is a user-friendly personal FTP and WebDAV server. The program's interface stays in the system tray without using too much system resources. Creating a share is as simple as clicking on a create button, selecting the shared folder, and clicking OK.

ftp-ssl is similar to the standard FTP client and it interoperates with normal ftpd, but it uses SSL authentication and encryption. It checks if the other side is also talking SSL, and if not it falls back to the normal FTP protocol. Advantages over normal FTP include encryption of passwords and transmitted data, preventing network sniffers from acquiring secret information (most notably passwords).

netstiff (formerly known as webdiff) is a powerful Web and FTP site update checker. It supports a variety of different methods (diff, HTML, size, date, MD5 sum, regexp) to check for updates. There are also sophisticated settings to make it useful for partly dynamic Web pages. Without any given arguments, netstiff will either run its interactive configuration tool or check your sites for updates and print the changes in a diff(1)-like manner.

oftpd is designed to be as secure as an anonymous FTP server can possibly be. It runs as non-root for most of the time, and uses the Unix chroot() command to hide most of the systems directories from external users--they cannot change into them even if the server is totally compromised. It also contains its own directory-change and directory-listing code (most FTP servers execute the system "ls" command to list files).

Pavuk is a Web grabber with an optional GTK GUI, and optional support for downloading with multiple threads. It supports the HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, FTP via SSL, and Gopher protocols, as well as HTTP GET, and POST requests. It is capable of filling HTML forms while downloading HTML trees, and lets you mirror Web documents for local browsing. You can even synchronize changes to these documents.
