tinyldap is a small (11k uncompressed static binary on x86 Linux) and fast (1000 equal queries for one of 3000 records in less than one second on a 1.3 GHz Athlon, with over 3000 separate TCP connections using tcpserver) read-only LDAP server. No tricks like file descriptor passing, thread pools, or caching are used (aside from the buffer cache from the operating system).
The RoboCup Soccer Simulator is a platform for evaluating multiple autonomous intelligent agents in a realworld-like domain. The simulator allows two teams of 11 players and one coach to interact in a simulated game of soccer. The team members connect to the simulator using UDP sockets and must perform complex behaviors using only a few basic commands, primarily dash, kick, turn, and catch, based on noisy and infrequent sensor information provided by the simulator. This simulator is used in the simulation league of the RoboCup competition.
SetiContainer is a C++ class that allows convenient access to all the information in the state files of a SETI@home client. It periodically examines these files and updates its own data members accordingly. Other programs can use this class to extract information about the progress of the client, the found signals, or the work unit being processed. Additional functions offer more advanced info (like the amount of TeraFlops in a work unit, estimated time of completion, etc.). The SetiContainer class is based on the Qt toolkit, and extensively uses Qt's Signal/Slot technique.

dmassage uses the information in a BSD system's dmesg to gather information about the system's hardware devices and present this information in a tree-like hierarchy. This information can then be used to build a more efficient kernel that only contains support for devices that are actually present. It can also be used to disable probes for absent devices, thus speeding up the boot process.
