DISLIN is a high-level, easy-to-use plotting library for displaying data as curves, bar graphs, pie charts, 3D-colour plots, surfaces, contours, and maps. Several output formats are supported, such as X11, VGA, PostScript, PDF, CGM, HPGL, TIFF, and PNG. Plotting extensions for the interpreting languages Perl, Python, and Java are also supported for most operating systems.
GLgraph is an interactive OpenGL based function grapher for Linux written in Perl. It visualizes any mathematical function in 1, 2, or 3 unkowns (x,z,t) in a 2D, 3D, or 4D wireframe or solid surface. It creates an animation after one time period. GLgraph has a command line interface to input a function, to specify the minimum and maximum plotting bound, and more. It can be interactively controlled with the keyboard.
Gwyddion is a modular SPM (Scanning Probe Microsope) data visualization and analysis tool. It can be used for all most frequently used data processing operations including: leveling, false color plotting, shading, filtering, denoising, data editing, integral transforms, grain analysis, profile extraction, fractal analysis, and many more. The program is primarily focused on SPM data analysis (e.g. data obtained from AFM, STM, NSOM, and similar microscopes). However, it can also be used for analyzing SEM (scaning electron microscopy) data or any other 2D data.
Internode Nodemap is a network visualization tool. Using SNMP, it gathers a periodic snapshot of the current state of the network. Then, under instructions from its config file, it plots a series of "maps" of the network over the top of GIF images in the Web server's document root, using color and HTML CSS to indicate potential performance or reliability problems. The maps are hierarchical "drill-down" views of the network. The top-level map is a summary which can be clicked on to reveal specific details; these more specific maps can also have additional maps nested within.
LiquidMaya is a Maya to Renderman plug-in that handles full Renderman output support with a focus on speed, efficiency, and extensibility. Its features include procedural rib generation, full network rendering support, segmented rib files, a shader assignment interface, and much more. Along with the ability to write full C++ plug-ins, it is incredibly easy to script Liquid with Mel. Liquid was used for the visual effects of the "Lord of the Rings" movie.
