QuesoGLC is a free implementation of the OpenGL Character Renderer. The OpenGL Character Renderer (GLC) is a state machine that provides OpenGL programs with character rendering services including scale and rotate text and draw text using lines, filled triangles, or bitmaps. QuesoGLC is based on the FreeType library, provides Unicode support, and is designed to be easily ported to any platform that supports both FreeType and the OpenGL API.
SILGraphite (formerly OpenGraphite) is a project within SIL's Non-Roman Script Initiative and Language Software Development groups to provide extensible cross-platform rendering capabilities for complex non-Roman writing systems. It consists of a rule-based programming language, Graphite Description Language (GDL), that can be used to describe the behavior of a writing system, a compiler for that language, and a rendering engine that can serve as the backend of a text processing application. SILGraphite renders TrueType fonts that have been extended by means of compiling a GDL program. It is currently being integrated into Gecko/Mozilla through the SILA project, a GNU/Linux port is also underway, and there are plans for OpenOffice.org and Abiword integration.
TYM (Typo Manager) is software for managing fonts in formats like .OTF (OpenType), .TTF (TrueType), and .PFA/.PFB (Typo1). It allows you to add or "link" fonts, activate or deactivate them, and delete them. It also handles the "group font" function and stores several fonts inside one file.
TextSearch is a program to search through a set of text files in a directory structure. Each document is searched using a regular expression and an overview of the results is shown as a tree structure. By clicking on a file, it can be viewed, with matches being highlighted. As opposed to other programs out there, its focus is not so much on statistics, i.e. how often a word would occur in an entire corpus of files, but rather on occurrences in single files.
5x9 and 5x10 are two X11 fonts intended for use with xterm or other programs requiring readable small fonts. At only 5 pixels wide, they are particularly well suited to small laptop screens, allowing two 80 column windows side by side on an 800x600 screen (albeit with no room for window frames), or three windows across with room to spare on a 1280x1024 screen. The fonts implement VT100 line-drawing characters. Bolding is not directly supported; xterm does adequate bolding by duplicating pixels.
