Xfstt means "X11 Font Server for TrueType fonts". TrueType fonts are generally regarded to be the best scalable fonts for low resolution devices like screens. Examples where good scalable fonts improve the visual quality considerably are Mozilla, GIMP, and Java. A fonts.properties file for use with Java is provided.

It is very useful when you plan to use a TrueType enabled font server that is based on the X11R6 sample implementation (xfsft for instance). acoc is a regular-expression based colour formatter for programs that display output on the command-line. It works as a wrapper around the target program, executing it and capturing the stdout stream. Optionally, stderr can be redirected to stdout, so that it, too, can be manipulated. acoc then applies matching rules to patterns in the output and applies colours to those matches.
