The fontutils package includes the programs bpltobzr, bzrto, charspace, fontconvert, gsrenderfont, imageto, imgrotate, limn, and xbfe. These create fonts for use with Ghostscript or TeX (starting with a scanned type image and converting the bitmaps to outlines), convert between font formats, etc. The package also includes the libraries libbzr.a, libgf.a, libpbm.a, libpk.a, libtfm.a, and libwidgets.a.

The pfbtopfa utility converts PostScript Type 1 fonts in the PFB binary format into the ASCII PFA format used by X and other Unix PostScript Type 1 font uses. It can be used to convert font files, or it can be used as a traditional Unix filter, reading its input from stdin and writing its output to stdout. It can also be used as a combination of the two: read from stdin, write to a file, or read from a file, write to stdout.

Also, Fontlinge has a Web interface to browse through your fonts. It shows detail previews and font info, provides font download as a tarball, and has the possibility to sort fonts.

acoc is a regular-expression based colour formatter for programs that display output on the command-line. It works as a wrapper around the target program, executing it and capturing the stdout stream. Optionally, stderr can be redirected to stdout, so that it, too, can be manipulated. acoc then applies matching rules to patterns in the output and applies colours to those matches.

chessdgm.rb converts a standard chess postion file (in the "fen" format) into a word processor diagram. This is a rewrite in Ruby of a C program (chessdgm), with support for more fonts. The fonts have been included in the tarball with their documentation, and are free for non-commercial use, but not GPL.
