These games are recreations of simple ASCII graphics games originally written in BASIC. They are ideal for use as Perl programming tutorials. Some of the first few games are PerlBlaster (defend your planet from invading aliens), PerlRacer (steer your car through the twisting passages), and PerlArena (eliminate the mutant hordes).
KaGez-Production aims to make game developing under Linux easier. Tutorials and examples, reaching from simple console applications (non- graphical) to OpenGL games, are available, as well as tools like Image-Viewers, and 3D-Model viewers. All applications will be made for Linux only, most graphical items will work with GTK+/GNOME.
"The Game" is a project designed to simplify the process of producing any high-quality cross-platform 2D or 3D graphical computer game. The hope is that any game can be produced simply by changing a few settings and pressing a "compile" button. The project has three "deliverables": a game engine library to abstract across the set of all possible computer games (applying object-oriented design methods to the general problem in such a way as to be usable in specific instances); a graphical interface for easy game design (an exercise in human interface design); and a gaming package with a lot of shiny games to play.
TESA (Tactics Editor for Squad Action) is a strategy editor for computer games. It allows the user to add team members to squads and edit actions they will perform in a squad-based game. It comes with all the map information needed for 32 player Battlefield 2 maps and is fully customizable to work with other games.
The Castle is a first-person shooter game in a dark fantasy setting. Your main weapon is a sword, so the fight is mostly short-range. Three main levels are included, packed with creatures, items, and sounds. A couple of bonus levels are also available, like the classic DOOM E1M1 level reimplemented in VRML. The game engine is based on VRML, OpenGL, OpenAL, and all shadows are done by the shadow volumes approach.
