DSML is the Directory Services Markup Language, an XML dialect for working with directory information. The DSML Tools provide for the querying of any LDAP directory (with search results output as DSML), the importing of DSML data into any LDAP directory, the directory-context validation of DSML (checking for illegal attributes in the entries, etc.), and the calculation of the differences (for a directory) between two DSML documents to provide an XML Diff algorithm for DSML data. This software makes all LDAP-supporting directories DSML-enabled. It can also check the integrity of DSML data, and show at a glance how two data sets, represented as DSML, differ.
renattach is a stream filter that can identify and act upon potentially dangerous e-mail attachments. It's a highly effective way of protecting users from harmful mail content (virii and worms) by disabling or removing attachments that may be accidentally executed by the user. It is written in pure C and can quickly process mail with little overhead. Unlike a conventional virus scanner, there are no specific virus or worm definitions. Instead, it identifies potentially dangerous attachments based on filename extension and on encoded body content. It can be used from within sendmail, postfix, procmail, or pretty much anywhere else.
Mailfilter is a flexible utility to get rid of unwanted spam mails, before having to go through the trouble of downloading them into the local computer. It offers support for one or many POP accounts and is especially useful for dialup connections via modem. You can define your own filters (rules) to determine which e-mails should be delivered and which are considered waste.
POPMail is a POP3 email checker and spam-eraser: just a way to delete spam from your POP3 Mail server based on regular expressions for any mail header (From, Subject, etc.). You can also specify a maximum email size so that spam messages are deleted before downloading them. You can disable anti-spam capabilities and use POPMail just to see the number of messages in a POP3 server, and the subjects, senders, and sizes of those messages.
Qmail-Scanner, (also known as scan4virus) is an addon that enables a Qmail Email server to scan all gatewayed Email for certain characteristics. It is typically used for its anti-virus protection functions, in which case it is used in conjunction with commercial virus scanners. but also enables a site to react to Email (at a server/site level) that contains specific strings in particular headers, or particular attachment filenames or types (e.g. *.VBS attachments). It also can be used as an archiving tool for auditing or backup purposes. Qmail-Scanner is integrated into the mail server at a lower level than some other Unix-based virus scanners, resulting in better performance. It is capable of scanning not only locally sent/received Email, but also Email that crosses the server in a relay capacity. It also has SpamAssassin support.
