The Extended Universal Resource Locator library provides a complete virtualization of file-like objects. How data is stored is completely transparent to the client, since the library is meant to replace java.io.File. It provides implementations for handling local files, Jar/Zip archives, and XML documents. (Implementations for CVS and FTP are available seperately.) Other storage providers can be written and plugged in. It also provides a merged filesystem implementation that allows multiple hierarchies to appear as one and to override each other in a controlled way. Other features include notification of changes to files, and support for attaching (dynamically updatable) actions to file objects.
Channel16 is graphical tool that allows users to browse the content of deleted files in an ext2 filesystem interactively, and to recover them into new files. The application also provides a search and rescue operation. This allows the user to input some exact text from the deleted file, which the program uses to search through all deleted inodes. Channel16 uses the low-level methods provided by e2fsprogs. The front end is implemented with Java Swing, and Java Native Interface (JNI) is used to bridge between Java and the ext2fs operations.
LazySync is a file-synchronization program written for handheld devices using the SavaJeXE Java operating system. It attempts to offer similar functionality to HotSync and ActiveSync of the Palm and CE platforms, and supports synchronization via an existing TCP/IP network connection between handheld and host.
FileLister is a filesystem indexing tool with a Web based frontend. Running platformindependently in a Web environment, its goal is to easily find files in large archives, using a rich set of search configuration options. Additionally, you may download single files or even create and download zip files on the fly from the results of your search.
Davenport is a Java Servlet-based application providing WebDAV access to an entire SMB network. This enables users to connect to Windows and Samba shares via WebDAV clients such as Mac OS X, Windows Web Folders, etc. or any Web browser. Workgroups are browseable, and users are authenticated against a domain. WebDAV clients can upload, download, create directories, etc. Non-WebDAV clients (i.e., "normal" Web browsers) can also access the network of shares and download files. When run over HTTPS, this application provides a reasonably secure means of accessing an internal Windows/Samba network over the Internet without requiring a VPN.
jsp File Browser is an easy to use and install file browser in a Java server page. It allows remote Web-based file access and manipulation, and supports uploading, copying, moving, deleting, unpacking, showing, and editing files on the server. You can also download groups of files and folders as a single zip file that is created on the fly.
File system investigator is a forensic tool for viewing filesystems. It is written entirely in Java, so it is platform independent. It allows viewing of ReiserFS and EXT2/3. While primarily intended as a forensics tool, it is also useful for Linux users who dual boot with another OS; it allows them to view and extract files from their partitions.
AnomicFTPD is an RFC959-compliant FTP server with OS- independent user and group management. Active and passive modes, non-root mode, and anonymous and/or read-only modes are supported. A built-in client IP filter acts as a firewall and provides additional access limitation. The server has no online interface; attributes, groups, and user accounts are configured through text files. The protocol/ format-unspecified LIST command produces output that is compatible with most FTP clients, including common Web browsers in FTP mode.
SimMon is a cross platform monitoring tool which runs on almost any OS that supports the Java Virtual Machine 1.4+. Monitoring is done through the execution of existing monitoring scripts (Perl/VBS) or existing shell commands. Currently monitoring scripts are available for Solaris, Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows based systems. Network devices can be monitored via the integrated SNMPv1 scheduler.
