KindFTP is meant to be a complete implementation of the FTP protocol, as specified in RFC959. It provides a component that directly exposes the low-level protocol, and it supports the core protocol that is available on most Open Source FTP servers. It has untested support for ACCT, SMNT, REIN, TYPE, STRU, MODE, ALLO, and SITE command. It uses iContract to provide a full formal specification of all software, jUnit for all unit testing, and Ant as a build tool.
AdslShare aims to be a powerful file sharing tool. It is built with modularity in mind. Each piece of the software is a plugin that can be loaded at start time. It currently has a GTK+ 2.x interface and a Gnutella protocol plugin. Planned features include the ability to download from different hosts, resume downloads and uploads, a new protocol with a more intelligent download engine, and a scripting interface.
LazySync is a file-synchronization program written for handheld devices using the SavaJeXE Java operating system. It attempts to offer similar functionality to HotSync and ActiveSync of the Palm and CE platforms, and supports synchronization via an existing TCP/IP network connection between handheld and host.
AbulÉdu is a Ubuntu-based distribution for primary schools. It is currently in French but most of the tools can be translated. An AbulÉdu server can handle Mac, Windows (samba), GNU/Linux and X terminal (with LTSP) clients. The server acts as a central gateway for Web, mail, and printing, and facilitates the management of classes, pupils, and teachers. Everybody can publish Web pages on an intranet using Apache and all administration tasks are performed using a browser. The result is that a teacher who is not a computer specialist can install and manage a school network.

The system provides documents archive, e-mail archive, request tracker, task management, knowledge base, news administration, newsletter support, and a lot of other features (some project-based, some system-based).
Chindi is a file transfer server/client package written in Java with functionality similar to that of an FTP server. The goal is to create an old-school BBS-system combined with a FTP server. All transfers are encrypted using a fast stream cipher combined with RSA encryption for the transfer of the keys.
