GNUnet is a peer-to-peer framework with focus on providing security. All peer-to-peer messages in the network are confidential and authenticated. The framework provides a transport abstraction layer and can currently encapsulate the network traffic in UDP, TCP, HTTP, HTTPS, or direct 802.11 (WLAN). GNUnet supports accounting to provide contributing nodes with better service. The services built on top of the framework include anonymous file sharing and a virtual network providing IPv4-IPv6 transition via protocol translation over the P2P network.
libextractor is a library used to extract meta-data from files of arbitrary type. It is designed to use helper-libraries to perform the actual extraction, and to be trivially extendable by linking against external extractors for additional file types. The goal is to provide developers of file-sharing networks, file managers, and WWW-indexing bots with a universal library to obtain meta-data about files. It includes a shell-command and bindings for Java (JNI) and Python.
Pysync has both a demonstration implementation of the rsync and related algorithms in pure Python, and a high speed librsync Python extension. The pure Python is not fast and is not optimized, however it does work and provides a simple implementation of the algorithm for reference and experimentation. It includes a combination of ideas taken from librsync, xdelta, and rsync. The librsync Python extension is less flexible and harder to understand, but is very fast.
eContent is a Web-based content management system for creating information systems, intranets, B2B, B2C, catalogs, and vertical portals. Written in Java for scalability, and based on open standards Struts and Expresso for stability, eContent integrates content management, scalable content and application delivery, resource management, workflow and personalization. It supports executables, all documents types, OLAP reports, Java programs, and legacy integration.
LibTorrent is a BitTorrent library written in C++ for Unix. It is designed to avoid the redundant buffers and data copying that most (all?) other BitTorrent implementations suffer from. The library is single-threaded and the client handles the select loop. An interactive ncurses client is included as an example.
JSTUN is a STUN (Simple Traversal of UDP (User Datagram Protocol) through NAT (Network Address Translation)) implementation. STUN provides a means for applications to discover the presence and type of firewalls or NATs between them and the public Internet. In the presence of a NAT, STUN can also be used by applications to learn the public Internet Protocol (IP) address assigned to the NAT.
Echomine Feridian is an easy-to-use Java API that gives you quick and easy access to the XMPP network used in IM services such as Google Talk. The API allows you to communicate with Jabber/XMPP servers for sending and receiving instant messages, presence management, and custom extensions to the XMPP protocol.
FDT is an application for efficient data transfers that is capable of reading and writing at disk speed over wide area networks (with standard TCP). It can be used to stream a large set of files across the network, so a large dataset composed of thousands of files can be sent or received at full speed, without the network transfer restarting between files. It is written in Java, runs an all major platforms, and is easy to use.
