DiskSearch is a tool for searching for files on all your removable media disks, including CDs, ZIP disks, and backup tapes. It allows you to search for songs on your MP3 CDs or for a document on your backup DVDs. For advanced queries, a regular expression search mode is provided. Searches are based on a simple database file, which needs to be filled once by adding all your disks to it.
Desktility is designed to make life easier on Mac users. Most Mac users tend to keep icons on the desktop. Mac OS X will occasionally move them around for various reasons, from changing monitor resolutions, running certain apps, or rebooting. Desktility resolves this problem by automatically resetting the icons back to their home positions, saving you from the tedious task of reorganizing them. It can also save and restore your app's window positions.
The McNucle server software turns your Mac into an easy to use fileserver. Choose a file, generate the link, and send it to your friends. Your folder is presented to them in a handy Web page. You and your friends can now browse, preview, and download the files on your Mac from any Internet-enabled computer. Since you don't upload files up front, the amount of files you can present is virtually unlimited.
Tagsistant is a semantic filesystem for Linux and BSD kernels. It uses directories as tags and allows file tagging by simply putting files inside desired tag directories. The path you are walking by is your query, e.g. tagsistant/tag1/AND/tag2/OR/tag3/AND/tag2/. Being a low level interface, a filesystem can be instantly used by shell users, file managers, or CGI. A plug-in architecture is under development to add autotagging functionality for common files like .mp3, .ogg, .jpeg, .html, and .xml. A transparent ontology engine is also under development to allow users create a relationship schema between directories.
