gvSIG is an easy to use Java desktop GIS. It has a friendly interface, and can access some popular formats (e.g. SHP, DGN, DXF, DWG, TIFF, JPEG, ECW, SID, etc). It will integrate in a single view both local vector and raster data, as well as remote data through WMS or WCS. It allows layout design for printing. It is meant for end-users of geographical information, and currently has Spanish, Valencian, English, and 6 more interfaces. It's designed to be easily extended.
Xebece is a multipurpose tool for information visualization and organization. It can be used to set up intriguing presentations. Likewise, document management is straightforward and effective if you use Xebece. Application fields of Xebece include presentations, courses and training, document management, mind mapping and brainstorming, and knowledge management. This program was formerly known as Calientra or Ontographics.
Stopmotion is an application for creating stop motion animations from images imported from a v4l (or similar) device. The animations can be saved as .sto files and exported as video files. Grabbing of images and video export is plug-in based, so it is easy to use your favourite programs such as mencoder, ffmpeg, dvgrab, and vgrabbj to do the job.
Magda (Magda Aesthetic Graph Drawing Application) is an application developed for mathematicians intrested in graph theory, specially in graph drawing. Magda provides a nice and extensive GUI for creating and drawing graphs using appropriate algorithms. The user just chooses the type of graph, inserts vertices with edges, and Magda draws the graph according to the chosen algorithm. It comes with a set of basic graphs and most well-known algorithms for drawing them.
Photo Mail Wizard is a desktop application designed to help users to search, choose, and send optimized photos by mail. Sent photos are automatically commented, rotated, resized, and/or compressed using the user's current parameters. The selected photos files are not modified, and nothing is written inside directories where photos are searched for.
Treebolic is a suite of programs (an engine, a generator, a browser, and example Web services) whose purpose is to give a hyperbolic rendering of a hierarchy of data. A tree is rendered with nodes and edges but display space is subject to a particular curvature: more space is allocated to the focus node while the parent and children, still in the immediate visual context, appear slightly smaller. The grandparents and grandchildren are still visible but smaller still. Distant nodes gradually disappear towards the disk's border, as though the whole hierarchy were seen through a fish eye lens.
Fraqtive is a multi-platform generator of the Mandelbrot family fractals. It uses very fast algorithms that support SSE2 and multi-core processors. It generates high quality anti-aliased images and renders 3D scenes using OpenGL. It allows real-time navigation and dynamic generation of the Julia fractal preview.
