OpenOffice.org Tools is a GUI-based Java program that complements OpenOffice. The tools include a Writer file properties viewer, a modified word counter, and a bibliography converter. The file properties viewer reads, displays, and searches the properties (title, subject, keywords, and comments) of all OpenOffice Word Processor documents in a directory. The view can be customized and auto-loaded on program start-up. The word counter counts words bounded by spaces. This is different from the word count provided by OpenOffice, which counts hyphenated words as more than one word. The bibliography converter imports bibliographic information from BibTeX and OpenOffice files and exports them to a database format supported by OpenOffice to be used as a bibliography database.

pcpViewer is a 3D viewer of data gathered through the excellent "Performance Co-Pilot" library (http://oss.sgi.com/projects/pcp). You can see usage of CPU time, network devices, memory, hard drives, and virtually any data exported by the pcp library and daemon. It was first started as a "pet project" trying to provide a 3D xosview replacement, so one of the goals is to achieve the same level of responsiveness as xosview.

News-Maniac provides a news script that is easy to configure, easy to customize, and feature-rich. It uses Smarty as a template engine and phpSecureSite as a session manager. Because of this, it is easily customizable and extensible, even if you haven't learned PHP. Its administration center features multiple users and four different user groups. It is XHTML 1.0 valid, and the user doesn't need a browser with JavaScript support. An RSS 2.0 and Atom 0.3 backend is implemented. Installation is easy because database entries are all provided by an installation script. It supports multiple languages (currently English and German).
