Poezio is a console-based client for XMPP, the protocol on which the Jabber IM network is built. Its goal is to let you connect to the network very easily (without having to create an account) and join various chatrooms immediately. It tries to look like the most famous IRC clients (such as weechat and irssi). Many commands are identical and you won't be lost if you already know these clients. Configuration can be done in a configuration file or directly from the client. It embodies the light, fast, geeky, and anonymous spirit of IRC while using a new, powerful, standard, and open protocol.
pwgrep is a simple password manager that manages a database file using encryption of GnuPG. It uses encryption and version control on all of the passwords that are stored. The password database can be used on several hosts at once with automatic synchronization. Even several users can share the same password database. The versioning system will keep track of who was changing which entries and at which time. The versioning system to use can be configured (and is Subversion by default). Besides passwords, pwgrep can also be used for storing a collection of files like certificates. The file shredding command for secure deleting of temporary files can be configured. A local backup of all database changes is automatically made. It can be used without a GUI (such as through an SSH session).
PYBAG implements a portable bag and is intended for fast synchronization and backup. It lets you use a portable digital storage device to carry your electronic documents similar to the way you can use a bag to carry paper documents. You can synchronize the bag with your original files easily. If a synchronization conflict occurs, it will be reported. You can specify rules for automatic conflict resolution. With PYBAG, you can backup files and synchronize any changes made to the original files with the bag. The synchronization process will only copy changed files. The program is cross-platform and independent from the OS and filesystem. You may easily synchronize files between Windows and Linux, for example. Symbolic links are supported on all systems (if the OS or filesystem does not support symlinks, then they are emulated). This program has a GUI and a command line interface.
minidb is a Python module that utilizes the SQLite3 database library in order to store and retrieve Python objects. It utilizes Python's __slots__ mechanism to determine the column names, and uses the class name for table names. Data is always stored as text in the database, but will be converted using the type specified in __slots__ (which therefore has to be a dict).
rlimit is a program that lets you run processes with system resource limits set. It can be used by software developers and testers to test that software will run correctly in resource restricted environments. It is also useful for software which would otherwise consume excessive resources such as programs that used 100% CPU, set their own priority levels, or consume too much memory. This is basically a command line interface to the system functions getrlimit() and setrlimit().
smtp-cli is an SMTP command line client with support for advanced features such as STARTTLS, SMTP-AUTH, or IPv6. It also has scriptable message composition capabilities supporting anything from simple plain-text messages right up to building complex HTML emails with alternative plain-text part, attachments, and inline images. It's also a convenient tool for testing and debugging SMTP servers' setups. smtp-cli can be used to check a given server's capabilities, to test your server's setup, or to create and dispatch email messages. The command line interface is intuitive, and everything is scriptable and can run in a completely non-interactive mode from scripts or cron jobs. smtp-cli is ideal for shipping log files from remote machines, running periodic mail delivery test loops, etc.
