LiVES is a simple to use yet powerful video effects, editing, conversion, and playback system aimed at the digital video artist and VJ. It runs under Linux, BSD, Mac OS X/Darwin, IRIX, and openMosix. It is frame and sample accurate, can handle almost all types of video, and is fully extendable through plugins and the included plugin builder tool. It can also be controlled remotely using OSC.

Keystroke is a tool that aids in the transcription, subtitling, and logging of video and audio. It combines a video player and text editor and allows control of the media through keystrokes rather than through the mouse. Furthermore, it tracks the start and end times of each entered phrase in order to use the transcription in CMML/Annodex files as subtitles. It is also unique in that it does not display each clip in the usual table layout, instead utilizing a script-like view. Output can be in SRT, CMML, and plain text.

Advene (Annotate Digital Video, Exchange on the NEt) is aimed at providing a model and a format to share annotations about digital video documents (movies, courses, conferences, etc.), as well as tools to edit and visualize the hypervideos generated from both the annotations and the audiovisual documents. Teachers, moviegoers, etc. can use them to exchange multimedia comments and analyses about video documents. The project also aims at studying the way that communities of users (teachers, moviegoers, students, etc.) will use these self-publishing tools to share their audiovisual "readings", and to envision new editing and viewing interfaces for interactive comment and analysis of audiovisual content.

Videoporama (formerly known as Images2dvgui) is an application to make a video images slideshow. The supported export formats are DV (raw .dv and AVI), MPEG (VCD, SVCD, and DVD), FLV, and h264. The export resolution is from 384x288 to full 1080HD. It's possible to add multiples sound. It's possible to add images, titres and video sequences with transitions between sequences. The transition type can be defined for each sequence. There is also a Ken Burns effect, which zooms and travels over an image with multiple passage points and a fixed plan during the effect.
