Oolite is an independent reinterpretation and ehancement of the classic space sim game Elite for modern computers. The result is a space trading and combat simulation offering encounters with pirates, police, bounty hunters, the occasional alien menace, and other surprises along the way. While striving to reach the coveted Elite status, the players set their own path through the various galaxies, choosing to be trader, pirate, or bounty hunter depending on the situation at hand, and their own judgement. The game is hugely expandable, using a combination of property lists and JavaScript. Oolite's active modding community already provides more than 200 OXPs (Oolite eXpansion Packs). Among them are a huge variety of missions, weapons, ships, and extra career paths over and above what's available within the core game, as well as a number of other gameplay enhancements and customizations.
VoiceOne is a Linux distribution that gives you the ability to install a PBX platform with an easy to use Web-based GUI. It also provides a framework for building a communication server adding various plugins. Its main features are Asterisk 1.8 with realtime configuration with MySQL, a Ubuntu 10.04 base, and support for both hard disk and Compact Flash card installation.
The audit package contains the user-space utilities for creating audit rules, as well as for storing, searching, and generating reports from the audit records generated by the audit subsystem in the Linux 2.6 kernel and higher. It has a real-time plugin interface for event analysis and remote logging of events.
LinuxMCE is an add-on to Kubuntu that provides a complete whole-house media solution. It provides PVR and distributed media functions. It is stable, easy to use, and requires no knowledge of Linux and only basic computer skills. It allows you to set up a computer system that centralizes audio/video equipment, allowing you to access all media functions in other rooms with only thin clients. It supports home automation protocols including KNX, EIB, Z-Wave, DMX, EnOcean, and PLCBUS.
Qastrocam-g2 is a fork of the Qastrocam project, Webcam capture software for astronomy. This fork adds support for RGB24 (luminance only) and YUYV. It has better generic V4L support (lx mode and resizing). Settings backup has been added. There is better parallel and serial lx mode support. There are a number of other changes and additions.
AstroAviBrowser is a small tool for astronomy imaging capture/processing. It allows you to open a video file, select the good frames, and save the new sequence in a new avi file using raw or lossless codecs. You may also de-bayer your frames and separate RGB plans. It's a kind of "AviRaw" for Linux.
libjpeg-turbo is a high-speed version of libjpeg for x86 and x86-64 processors. It uses SIMD instructions (MMX, SSE, SSE2) to accelerate baseline JPEG compression and decompression. libjpeg-turbo is generally 2-4 times as fast as the unmodified version of libjpeg. It also includes a wrapper library for the TurboJPEG API used by VirtualGL and TurboVNC. It was originally based on libjpeg/SIMD but has improved support for Mac OS X, 64-bit platforms, 32-bit and big endian pixel formats (RGBA/BGRA/ABGR/ARGB), accelerated Huffman encoding/decoding, and various other fixes.
