Co-Ment is a Web service for annotating, discussing, and writing texts online. The editing environment is wiki-like, supporting many syntaxes (Markdown, RST, and HTML), and allows for finely controlled layouts including tables and images. Users can comment on extracts of the text, and advanced comment navigation features allow new annotations to be discovered or the history of a debate to be browsed. It is also possible to set up an email alert for text edits or new comments. Import/export is supported for many formats including TXT, DOC, ODT, and HTML.
ted (Tiny EDitor) is a lightweight commandline text editor designed for scripting. It's intended to be an easier-to-use alternative to "ed". It is lightweight, scriptable, and easily harnessed by shell scripts, but doesn't suffer from the chronic user-unfriendliness that characterizes ed. It is also slightly more featureful than ed, and includes multiple editing buffers and built-in script handling.
elRTE is a WYSIWYG HTML editor for the Web written using jQuery. It features rich text editing, options for changing its appearance and style, insertion and management of various HTML elements with formatting (images, tables, lists, etc.), support for viewing and editing HTML code, and normal and full-screen modes.
Vrapper is an Eclipse plugin which acts as a wrapper for Eclipse text editors to provide a Vim-like input scheme for moving around and editing text. Unlike other plugins which embed Vim in Eclipse, Vrapper imitates the behavior of Vim while still using whatever editor you have opened in the workbench. The goal is to have the comfort and ease which comes with the different modes, complex commands, and count/operator/motion combinations which are the key features behind editing with Vim, while preserving the powerful features of the different Eclipse text editors, like code generation and refactoring.
Storybook is novel-writing software which helps authors keep an overview of multiple plot lines while writing books, novels, or other written works. It assists you in structuring your book. It lets you store all the information about your characters and locations in one place, then use the included Storybook features for managing chapters, scenes, characters and locations, items, and tags. A simple interface is provided to enable you to assign your defined characters, locations, items, and tags to each scene and to keep an overview of your work with user-friendly chart tools. With the Memoria Tool, each object can be followed in dependence on time.
JOrtho is a spell checker for Java. The library works with any JTextComponent from the Swing framework and checks as you type. The dictionary is based on the free Wiktionary.org, and is applicable for multiple languages. You can select the spell checking language via a context menu. The Features of JOrtho are the highlighting of potentially wrongly spelled words, a context menu with suggestions for correct forms of the word, and a context menu with option to change the checking language. At the moment there are nine languages for spell checking available: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Polish, Dutch, and Arabic.
