Synspam uses Netfilter NFQUEUE to catch the source IP address of any machine connecting to your mail server, running multiple tests against it (RBL check, regexp on the reverse name, etc.) before forwarding the connection to the MTA. In order to have as few false positives as possible, a scoring system is used. If the source IP address is believed to be a spammer IP address, the connection can be dropped. There is a dry run mode if you just want to test it, which is the default.
spmfilter is a mail filtering framework. It attempts to be a general filtering framework for any purpose. The API enables spmfilter plugins to access messages as they are being processed by the MTA. This allows them to examine and modify message content and meta-information during the SMTP transaction. Plugins are loaded at runtime and can be processed in any sequence. The processing chain can also be altered by a single plugin, for example if the plugin has to stop further processing.
Spampig DnsblCheck takes the IP address of a mail server and looks it up in common blacklists and whitelists. The program tests against the major block lists from Spamhaus, SORBS, Spamcop, Barracuda, UCEProtect, and others. In addition to blacklists, it also checks against IP address and domain name whitelists and even checks PTR record integrity. The program returns results quickly, typically in less than a few seconds. If you don't get results quickly, it indicates you may have DNS problems and knowing this can also be useful. This application can be useful to spam fighters and email users who are struggling to find out why their messages are being blocked.

It does this by focusing on simplicity and task-based integration and avoids technical jargon and new concepts wherever possible. It offers easy to use integration for doing things like publishing and subscribing to JMS queues and topics, sending and receiving email, polling resources such as databases and ATOM feeds, task scheduling, creating HTTP/Rest services, consuming external services such as Amazon EC2 and S3, Twitter, Flickr, Google, and much more. It proves a Tomcat distribution that drops straight into Tomcat, with no need to mess with your project dependencies, and works with developer tooling for Tomcat or Tcat.
