SIMPLE_1 (SIMulation Program for Logistics Engin'g) is a discrete/continuous network-oriented simulation language with general-purpose programming language features. The Linux version of this software includes a project management system to automate integration of user-developed C/C++ code into SIMPLE_1 network models. A user's C/C++ code is interfaced with the SIMPLE_1 modeling language through information embedded in comments in the user's header file(s). SIMPLE_1 produces executable files with the help of the C++ compiler.
Saxogram is a script which generates vocabulary lists from texts written in foreign languages. So far it has dictionaries for Latin, German, and Italian. Saxogram was written with extensibility in mind. Thus, other languages can be "plugged in" as modules. All that is needed is a dictionary and a small amount of code. The purpose of the program is to speed up language learning. Too much time is spent looking up every third word. This isn't practical when learning a new language. Generating a vocabulary list that can be used in parallel to ones reading is helpful.
Tempest for Eliza is a program that uses your computer monitor to send out AM short wave radio signals. You can then hear computer generated music in your radio. it teaches you that your computer can be observed. Tempest for Eliza works with every monitor, every resolution. you don't have to be root.
GnomeRSVP is a "Rapid Serial Visual Projector" similar to products like AceReader. In this dynamic representation of text, each word is flashed on the screen one at a time in succession. The reader is less inclined to "oralize" the text, rather the reader interprets whole words as meaningful written symbols. Automatic re-reading of adjacent previous text is therefore rendered impossible. This results in much higher reading speeds than are possible with standard techniques.
TIGL-USB provides a driver for the the USB version of the well-known TI-GRAPH LINK cabled used for connecting TI graphing calculators to a computer. With this cable you can backup/restore your calculator, send/receive variables, do screenshots, FLASH your calculator (update the Operating System), etc.
QGolf was developed for radio amateurs to clarify the behaviour of a signal on an antenna. It demonstrates the forces that act on a rope if you move one end of it: you can see how waves are reflected, how resonance occurs, and how multiple pulses coexist on the same rope. Various parameters can be updated during the simulation.
AUC (Authenticated User Community) is an intranet system designed for use in an educational organization but is also useful in many other settings. It offers the ability for users to have a uniform web-based interface to discussion forums, e-mail (similar to hotmail, etc.), file management, and a searchable user database. Also, "Interactive Classrooms" provide a means for students and teachers to have a web-based extension to their in-class interaction. The system runs from a C-based monolithic CGI script. MySQL is used for database storage. Also, the web-based mail client supports MIME parts/attachments, IMAP, mbox, and multiple mail folders.
