alph implements and analyzes historical and traditional ciphers and codes, such as polyalphabetic, substitutional, and mixed employing human-reconstructable algorithms. It provides a pipe filter interface in order to encrypt and decrypt block text to achieve transparency. The program is meant to be used in conjunction with external programs that transfer data, resulting in transparent encryption or decryption of information. The program can thus be used as a mail filter, IRC filter, IM filter, and so on.
XML to DDL is a set of Python programs that converts an XML representation of a database into a set of SQL or DDL (Data Definition Language) commands. In addition, it can examine the difference between two XML files and output a sequence of SQL statements (normally ALTER statements) to bring one database up-to-date with the XML schema. You can also download the XML schema directly from the database. Finally, there's a tool to convert your schema into HTML for documentation purposes. XML to DDL currently supports the most recent versions of PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and Firebird databases.
SchemaView Plus is a GUI for creating, retrieving, drawing, and printing database schema. It uses Perl, Tk, DBI, and XML packages. Schema can be retrieved using DBIx::SystemCatalog, and it uses XML for storing and retrieving data in text files. You can write any filters to modify these XML files to add new functionality based on your projects (e.g. dropping off some relationships).
EFEU is suitable for handling data cubes, which are especially useful for building data warehouses. It consists of a building system including mkmf (a xmkmf like Makefile generator), esh (a powerful C/C++ interpreter), efeudoc (a document generator with different output formats (LaTeX, HTML, roff, etc.)). EFEU has a huge set of C library core features, including robust memory allocation tools, functions to concatenate and copy strings with memory allocation, buffers for dynamically-growing strings and fields, data structures with reference counters and garbage collection, and file tools that allow you to specify pipes wherever a filename is expected and support automatic implementation of (de)compression filters (gzip) depending on filename extensions. It also includes a high-level interface to files, strings, and anything else you can read from or write to.
LiquiBase is a DBMS-independent library for tracking, managing, and applying database changes. It is built on a simple premise: all database changes (structure and data) are stored in an XML-based descriptive manner and checked into source control. While there have been many attempts to provide a similar tool, LiquiBase aims to provide a solution that supports merging of changes from multiple developers, works well with code branches, supports a database refactoring IDE/plugin, and more.
cstor is a cross-reference compiler and reverse engineering tool. It compiles one text file (database) from multiple source modules (currently reads C, C++, and Perl). The tool combines reverse engineering capabilities, code validation, and an HTML documentation generator. The database can then be reused from own scripts and programs, e.g. to implement cross-compilers, validate coding conventions, build statistics etc. The builtin documentation generators are actually an application of the database.
