PhotoFS is a Web-based photo album or image gallery, based on the files-as-directories and attributes-as-files concepts at the core of the ReiserFS 4 filesystem. It does not require ReiserFS 4, but is much more efficient on that system than on others. It does many of the same things as other Web galleries, at least as far as the basics go. What makes it different is its use of the filesystem instead of a database. It allows you to use regular unix tools to access your photo collection. It can handle very large collections, and also encourages multiple categories per file, deep category hierarchies, and batch processing.
EZ Reusable Objects (EZRO) is a Web application that can be used by non-technical staff to manage content as "objects." Content objects containing text, video, and audio can be shared, modified, and re-styled to appear via a traditional Web site, an on-line course, an innovative "Coach," or as a community of interest site. It is highly scalable and can be used for public Web sites, secure environments, and private intra/extranets.
Surftree is an applet that displays data organized in a spreadsheet as an expandable tree on a Web page. The tree can be 9 levels deep and have over 65,000 nodes. Each node can display up to 4 independent Web pages or JPG images. It works with Java 1.0 and 1.1+ and in any Web server environment.
pHoToMoLo is a toolset for managing JPEG images in JFIF or Exif format. Photomolo generates a static HTML 4.01- and CSS 1-based multi-resolution image gallery for a directory tree containing images. Exifiron losslessly compresses and corrects the orientation of Exif JPEG images. Jpegnail removes or embeds thumbnails. Jpegcom lets you edit embedded image comments using any text editor and image viewer. A shell script frontend for Exifiron is included for copying images from removable storage, such as USB or Compact Flash.
UNG (UNG’s Not Gallery) is an image gallery script for control freaks, tweakers, and other power users. It browses subdirectories (uploaded manually via FTP, SCP, or another protocol) of a specified location and creates a hierarchy of categories and pictures. It automatically creates thumbnails for images that don’t have them already and has an optional comment system so people can discuss posted pictures.
image_album generates HTML on-the-fly for the navigation of albums of related images. It supports several different viewing modes appropriate for different display sizes and connection speeds, and allows the viewing of additional image info such as EXIF data. It uses CGI PATH_INFO-style URLs (with no '?' characters) for spiderability by all search engines.
The Photomaniac Media Library is a media management solution for digital photographers who have to manage large amounts of digital media. Its strength is its native support for RAW images, version control, team functionality, speed, cross-platform compatibility, and cost efficiency.
PIVIAU is a PHP/MySQL Web based gallery for pictures, videos, and audio that supports tags and EXIF. Albums and pictures have searchable tag, country, city, place, date, subject, and author. An RSS feed is available for every seach you can do, or for recent pictures. There is an AJAX-powered slideshow. Pictures are resized using PHP GD image functions.
