BindConfig is a tool to reduce the error prone work of maintaining BIND's zone files. More precisely, BindConfig is the name of a Python module that can read BIND's zone files and named.conf files, and can modify and save BIND's zone files in a concise format. It is distributed with an interactive shell that can be used to easily modify records in a zone file.
adlook (Address Lookup tool) is a multi-threaded host name and technical contact lookup tool. It accepts a list of IP addresses from the command line, from a data file, or from stdin, and outputs the hostname and technical contact for each address. Although it is written in Python, for the time being it runs only on UNIX systems. Python must have been compiled with threads enabled to run adlook.

Posadis is a domain name server for Unix and Win32 systems. It can both act as an authoritive and as a caching DNS server, and it supports standard DNS master files, zone transfers, and DNS Notify. Its modular structure allows plug-ins to define new zone types and add new functionality.
Hawk is a DNS housekeeping utility that compares what's in DNS to what's really on your network, allowing you to (re)assign IPs with confidence. It monitors the hosts on your network via ping. It can identify unauthorized address usage, or show you which addresses in DNS haven't been used in a while and can be reclaimed.
Batch-DNS Module simplifies adding any number of master or slave DNS domains for a server running Bind 8. It can chain to another instantiation of itself on another server, so that after adding the master records, it can automatically add slave records. Any number of slave servers can be chained in series to the master server. It is also written to accept DNS records from Batch-Apache.
