ext-Dns is a core library, an extensible forward DNS server, and some additional tools designed to create DNS server solutions which are able to do any additional operation at the resolution level (running commands, rewritting replies, gathering stats, and so on), without any limit. It provides a ready-to-use solution in case you want to build a DNS server which takes additional actions at the resolution level in an easy way. That is, its design is focused on allowing people to implement whatever they like when a request is received, freeing them from most of the details which involves handling DNS protocol.
ddserver.pl is a simple, small Perl script that acts as a DynDNS-compatible and ZoneEdit-compatible dynamic DNS server. It also provides an HTML Web interface, operating as a CGI script, and has been tested within Apache and lighttpd Web servers. It creates and maintains bind9 named.conf(5) zone files. Simple zone-specific templates and username/password ACLs are supported.
OpenNetAdmin provides a database managed inventory of your IP network (IPAM). Each host can be tracked via a centralized AJAX-enabled Web interface that can help reduce tracking errors. It also has the ability to generate DHCP and DNS configuration for individual servers from the data stored in the database. There is a command line interface for batch scripting that can be accessed remotely or locally.
dns.c is a recursive, re-entrant, non-blocking DNS resolver in a single .c file. It features a record-agnostic API, restartable record iterators, and smart queries which recursively follow out-of-bailiwick NS, MX, and SRV host references. It works just as well as a stub resolver, too. It also includes spf.c, a non-blocking SPF resolver with no threading, no forking, and no run-time dependencies.
WAWAS is a full PHP application server. The main server core listens to any IP/port and passes data to any mounted protocol on the listener. Implemented protocols are HTTP1.1/1.0, Comet, Telnet, DNS, mail, and FTP. Each protocol runs modules that build response data based on the requests. Memory object persistence allows data and caches to be shared across protocols or time. All configuration uses XML. It can be launched as a daemon, with or without forked workers, and is nearly as fast as Apache in preliminary tests.
NicTool is a DNS management suite with support for various DNS servers (djbdns, BIND, PowerDNS), SQL data storage, DNS entry parsing (RFC 1034 & 1035 compliance), tiered and delegated permissions so you can safely grant access to clients and admins, giving them only the permissions they need. Humans interact via the Web interface, and an API is used for scripting mass updates, DNS templates, provisioning, and more. All changes are logged to easily track change history and see who changed what, and when.
