Aletheia is a browser-like application for sending raw HTTP requests. It is designed for debugging and finding security issues in Web applications. It is possible to apply filters on every request and response which can modify the content, for making Basic Authentication or OAuth requests, for example. Because it is possible to modify every bit of the request, it is easy to exploit Web applications. That means you can set, for example, custom Cookies or User-Agents, or send file uploads to the server. It uses the Apache HTTP core components library to send HTTP requests. This application also helps you understand how the HTTP protocol works.
pdnsd is a Proxy DNS server for Linux and FreeBSD that is designed to cope with unreacheable nameservers (e.g. because the dial-in link is not up) in a graceful manner to prevent DNS-dependent applications like Netscape from hanging. It has a permanent disk cache (i.e. the cache contents are saved in a file on exit) and supports parallel query and a wide variety of link uptests. It also has the ability to serve some types of locally defined records.
Poweradmin is a friendly Web-based DNS administration tool for Bert Hubert's PowerDNS server. The interface has full support for most of the features of PowerDNS including all zone types (master, native, and slave), supermasters for automatic provisioning of slave zones, full support for IPv6, and support for multiple languages.
Chaosmap is an information gathering tool and DNS, Whois, and Web server scanner. It can be used to look up DNS names with a dictionary with or without using a salt. Salting for DNS means it will append numbers from 1-9 to the name in the dictionary with or without a - and _ or a leading 0. Salting for Web stuff will try double slashes and some directory traversal tricks. It performs reverse DNS lookups of a whole IP range (with optional Whois lookup) and dictionary scans for hidden paths on one Web server or a range of IP addresses. Optionally you can encode a path with URL encoding use Google dict lookup mode to find the path on Google and only query the Webserver if there are no search results. It can also extract email addresses from domains using a Google search or perform a list of Google Hacking queries on your domain.
Syncless is an experimental, lightweight, non-blocking (asynchronous) client and server socket network communication library implemented in Stackless Python 2.6. It contains an asynchronous DNS resolver (using dnspython) and an HTTP server capable of serving WSGI applications. It aims to be a coroutine-based alternative of event-driven networking engines (such as Twisted and FriendFeed's Tornado). It is already about that fast, but it has fewer features and is less stable now.
IPv4/IPv6 DNS and DHCP config generator is a tool that can be used to generate DNS and DHCP configuration files from a central configuration file. It supports IPv4 and IPv6 addresses and reverse zones and multiple IPv4 networks, and generates one reverse DNS zone for each /24 network.
Lightweight markup languages and XML grammars for writing prose and screenplays.
