The MPEG4IP package provides a set of tools to encode, stream, and playback audio and video. It uses the MPEG-4 standards for audio and video, and the IETF standards for streaming. The included player can either playback from local MP4 file or stream from a remote server via RTP/RTSP.
A.M.I.C.U.S. (Automatic Multimedia Installation Configuration Utility System) helps users quickly and easily install and configure MythTV on generic PC hardware. It uses the Debian Netinst CD to install GNU/Linux and just the required packages to allow a functional MythTV on low end hardware.
ASDF (A Simple DVD Frontend for MPlayer) is intended to make watching DVDs with MPlayer easier. It's written in Perl using the Qt toolkit. It provides an easy way to select the track you want to watch, as well as audio and subtitle languages and deinterlacing. It also provides a way to hide the short "empty" tracks that litter many DVDs.
Badut is a home theater PC media browser; an audio/video jukebox. It lets you browse your files and play them, with the focus on good LCD/VFD support, pluggable media (e.g. USB), and infrared remote control. How files are played can be configured. Badut comes with a plugin that plays cdrdao audio CD images directly (audio.toc files).
The Video Performance Evaluation Resource (ViPER) is a toolkit of Java programs and scripts that enables evaluation of video processing algorithms. This includes a markup tool for video, a performance evaluation tool that compares how well result data matches ground truth video metadata, and scripts and systems for running sets of experiments.
Slideshow is a kiosk-style application for showing text, image, and video in a loop on monitors and projectors. It is not meant for situations where interactive control is required, but when the content is continuously looping for a long time. The content is updated through a Web GUI. The application is split into two packages, the backend and frontend. The backend is written in C++ and OpenGL. and the frontend uses Python. Currently. the frontend is very GNU/Linux specific and will not run on any other platform, but is meant to be as platform independent as possible, as long as it handles OpenGL.
