Exiv2 is a C++ library and a command line utility for managing image metadata. It provides fast and easy read and write access to the Exif, IPTC, and XMP metadata of images in many formats. The Exiv2 command line utility prints Exif, IPTC, and XMP metadata including Makernote tags in various formats, adjusts Exif timestamps, renames images according to the Exif timestamp, extracts and inserts Exif, IPTC, and XMP metadata and JPEG comments, or deletes the thumbnail or a specific type of metadata from an image.
Remote Capture for Canon PowerShot cameras is a tool for controlling Canon PowerShot cameras. It has been tested with the following Canon PowerShot cameras: S50, A60, A70, A75, A80, A85, A95, A510, A520, G6, S400, S410, and S500. The main advantage of Capture compared to gPhoto is that the consecutive shots are taken without the camera lenses being closed and opened again. When taking several thousand shots in a row, this indeed lets the camera live longer. If you do not need this feature, gPhoto is sufficient.
RPhoto is a handy image editor to simplify cropping of digital camera pictures and avoid white borders introduced by incorrect height/width ratios. It also has lossless rotate and flip features, as well as a unique way to rectify a bad angle by only drawing a horizontal or vertical line.
pHoToMoLo is a toolset for managing JPEG images in JFIF or Exif format. Photomolo generates a static HTML 4.01- and CSS 1-based multi-resolution image gallery for a directory tree containing images. Exifiron losslessly compresses and corrects the orientation of Exif JPEG images. Jpegnail removes or embeds thumbnails. Jpegcom lets you edit embedded image comments using any text editor and image viewer. A shell script frontend for Exifiron is included for copying images from removable storage, such as USB or Compact Flash.
Lluzhionne is a very configurable Webcam program that can apply randomly selected captions, dates, and filters to images before uploading them. It comes with a default set of filters that use NetPBM and ImageMagick; others can be easily added. It can upload images using SCP. It supports Casio digital cameras, YUV420P Video4Linux devices, and grabbing images supplied by an external Webcam program. It does not require X11. It has been tested using the Casio QV-10A digital camera and the Phillips (pwc driver) Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000.
