check_openmanage is a plugin for Nagios that checks the hardware health of Dell servers running OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA). The plugin can be used remotely with SNMP or locally with NRPE, check_by_ssh, or similar. It checks the health of the storage subsystem, power supplies, memory modules, temperature probes, etc., and gives an alert if any of the components are faulty or operate outside normal parameters.
check_mysql_health is a plugin for the Shinken (Nagios) software that allows you to monitor a MySQL database. Among the list of metrics are time to login, index usage, bufferpool hit rate, query cache hit rate, slow queries, temp tables on disk, table cache hit rate, connected threads, and many more. Requirements are either a DBD::mysql Perl module or a MySQL client package.
Diskus is a high-level hard drive diagnostic and limited repair tool. It checks the disk geometry by writing numbered IDs into the sectors of the hard drive. Later one can verify that these sector-IDs on the disk are still correct, thereby detecting data which was not correctly written. There is an option to "freshen" the data on your harddrive, which will read and rewrite the sectors. With modern drives this will re-map defective sectors.
JSend NSCA is a Java API and command line tool for sending Nagios Passive Checks to the Nagios NSCA add-on. By using the JSend NSCA core API, you can easily integrate your Java applications into a Nagios monitored environment, thereby notifying Nagios of problems and issues during the running of your application. The JSend NSCA CLI command line tool wraps the API and allows you to send passive checks from the command line.
Whiskers is an educational PocketPC application that tries to exploit all the hardware available on most common PDAs providing a link between different features such as GPS-Bluetooth-Wireless. Generally, whiskers was built with radio reconnaissance in mind as help for geocachers or wardrivers, but also as a penetration and audit tool. There is support for in-depth device scanning, triggering actions based on filters when certain devices are in range, centralized GPS logging with search functions for private or public databases, and much more.
HAL/C++ is a library using dbusmm to access the HAL daemon. The library is not a wrapper around libhal and libhal-storage, but rather a reimplementation using dbusmm to communicate with the HAL daemon. Even though it is modeled after the official libhal and libhal-storage, it does not aim at complete adherance to the original API. The library is application-oriented, so for now, features that would only be useful to system-level applications or daemons, or HAL addons, are not being implemented. However, some of these features are mostly conveniences in the original libhal, and can be emulated even with the existing API.
