IPMItool is a simple command-line interface to systems that support the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) specification. It provides the ability to read the SDR and print sensor values, display the contents of the SEL, print FRU information, read and set LAN configuration parameters, perform remote chassis power control, and act as a serial over LAN client. It can work with IPMI-over-LAN (both version 1.5 and 2.0) interfaces as well as the system interface provided by a kernel driver such as OpenIPMI.
The Linux Duracell CPU load monitor is a program that drives a Duracell or Energizer on-battery tester to display the CPU load of a system. It can be easily adapted to display other things that can use a slow bar graph kind of display that varies between 0% and 100%. Instructions to hack a AA-battery tester and turn it into a computer display are included in the distribution.
Passwd_exp notifies users via email of upcoming password or account expiration. Its simple modular architecture allows you to perform expiration checks on any data source you use (SQL databases, LDAP...), send expiration warnings only to desired users or group and on selected days only. Administrators can use it to review expired accounts in the system. Support for Linux and Solaris shadow (including LDAP and NIS systems) and BSD passwd systems is included.
FindFile will be a collection of tools for recovering files from filesystems with corrupted directories, allocation tables, etc. This can be useful when the partition table (or more) of a hard disk is corrupted, or when you have a memory card of a digital camera which is corrupted. For now, only a tool for recovering JPEG files is included.
memtest86+ is a memory tester which is based on memtest86 v3.0, and provides an up-to-date version of this useful tool, which aims to be as reliable as the original. It has been fixed to work on AMD64 systems, and also properly detects all current CPUs and motherboard chipsets. It supports ECC polling for AMD64, i875P, and E7205, and displays some useful settings for the most popular chipsets.
