Toorox is a Linux live DVD based on Gentoo which starts as bootable media using KNOPPIX technology. It is designed for ease of use, with a simple control center and a hard disk installer. It contains many applications and uses KDE, GNOME, or XFCE as a working environment. A live USB pen drive image maker is also present on the desktop. It is multi-lingual and contains the unstable branch of Gentoo (x86 and amd64).
Sagasu is a GNOME tool to find strings in multiple files. The user specifies the search directory and the set of files to be searched. Double-clicking on a search result launches a user command that can for example load the file in an editor at the appropriate line. The search can optionally ignore CVS directories. Sagasu is a Japanese word that means "to search."
Haiku (formerly known as OpenBeOS) is an operating system designed from the ground up for desktop computing. Inspired by the BeOS, it aims to provide users of all levels with a personal computing experience that is simple yet powerful, and free of any unnecessary complexities. It aims for source and binary compatibility with BeOS R5.
SpeechLion is a speech recognition application for desktop command and control. It is based on the Sphinx-4 recognizer, and it allows the user to control the Linux desktop using simple spoken commands. Some example commands are "browse google", "mouse click", "next window", "show help", and "volume mute". SpeechLion recognizes high-level commands for Web browsing via Firefox, simple Emacs usage, window control, volume control, and more. It also has low-level commands for ad-hoc keyboard shortcuts and mouse actions.
Smuxi is an irssi-inspired, flexible, user-friendly, and cross-platform IRC client for sophisticated users. Smuxi is based on the client-server model: The core application (engine) can be placed onto a server which is connected to the Internet around-the-clock; one or more frontends then connect to the core. This allows the connection to IRC to be kept up even when all frontends have been closed. The combination of screen and irssi served as the example for this architecture. Smuxi also supports the regular single application mode. This behaves like a typical IRC client; it doesn't need separate core management and utilizes a local engine that is used by the local frontend client.
